Game Thread Wisconsin at tOSU, Sep 28th, 8 ET, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2

Was at the Purdue/Wisky game this weekend. If we can shut down Abberdaris, that will take away Stave's biggest weapon. 80% of his throws went to Abbredaris. Stave loves the screen pass, and that is an area where we have struggled all year.

The scouting report from Wikipedia is ominous. We might have to put Deion on him, or Roby, or somebody like that:

Abbrederis was named to the preseason watch lists for the Biletnikoff Award, Paul Hornung Award, fourth-team All-American (Phil Steele), first-team All-Big Ten (Athlon, Phil Steele and Sporting News).

If we play 8-9 in the box and put robey on abbredaris and put shazier on their tight end they won't have much room to do much. I'm not worried about their offensive line winning against our d line but what I do worry about is Gordon breaking tackles and especially on fly sweeps to the outside. I'm not sure I've seen that fly sweep not go for twenty plus yards. I know coaches like to expect the unexpected but I never will understand when we play a team like Wisconsin with no passing game and yet we will still respect them deep to prevent the big play.

IMO man up ,bring in the base package and both safety's within 12 yards of the Los. I will take robeys chances against 4 all game because which is more likely to burn us? Gordon or abbredaris? Yeah that's what I thought. Besides the qb has to be lights out to take advantage of that and stave won't even be close

Spoiler alert: They're going to run an end around and a ton of fake end arounds.

I'll take it one step further. Noah Spence is going to have 2 TFL's off of this play alone.

I feel like this game marks the "official" start of the season for the Bucks. The suspensions are an afterthought, Miller is getting healthy. The offense seems to be finding a rhythm....and the defense is showing signs of gelling. I am really starting to see the physicality I hoped for up front with the defensive line; this unit could end up being the best in the country by November.

If anything valuable has come from the suspensions and injuries thus far, it's the fact that this team has developed experience and guys hungry to see the field.

The sky is the limit in Columbus.

Looked at the polls... How in hell did Clemson stay ranked #3 with a very unimpressive over a NC State team (who btw almost lost to Richmond)?

Meanwhile, Ohio State drops to #4 with a 35 point victory over SDSU?

Here's my take on the game early in the week. This is subject to change as I unrealistically raise my hopes that Wisconsin has a chance in this game.

QB: OSU would be prudent to absolutely load the box and force Stave to beat them. He has really struggled against even mediocre opponents (Purdue). His release is slow, his footwork is bad, and he stares down his targets. If he struggles, don't be surprised to see ACL-less super-super-senior Curt Phillips get some time. Stave will need to have a stellar game if the Badgers are to win.

RB: The backfield for UW is very good. While James White is the listed starter, Melvin Gordon is the real star. He put on a lot of muscle from last year and has exceptional balance, vision, and speed. Freshman Corey Clement is a more-than capable fill-in and may get some carries to spell both White and Gordon.

WR/TE: Compounding Stave's problems is the fact that he doesn't have anyone to throw to other than Jared Abbrederis. TE Jacob Pedersen sprained his MCL against Purdue. That's a big blow. Both Abbrederis and Pedersen are excellent down-field blockers.

OL: To be honest, the offensive line is not as good as in year's past. They struggled in the first half against a pretty good ASU d-line. It's a young line that will have their hands full against OSU's front seven.

DL: Wisconsin has switched to a 3-4 scheme under the new coaching staff this year. NT Beau Allen needs to draw double teams to free up the linebackers. Defensive ends Pat Muldoon and Ethan Hemer seem like they have struggled with the transition.

LB: There is added emphasis on the linebacking corps with the switch to the 3-4. OLB Brendan Kelly is an awkward fit in his new position and got burned trying to cover the quicker ASU backs on wheel routes. Ethan Armstrong starts opposite of Kelly and is solid if not spectacular. The inside linebackers have played very well this year. Derek Landisch and Conor O'Neill have rotated and both have been pleasant surprises. Chris Borland is in his final year and is a handful.

Secondary: This is a young unit. CB Sojourn Shelton is a true freshman but starts regardless. He has had some growing pains so far but also has two interceptions. The other cornerback, junior Peniel Jean, also got hurt against Purdue but should be back this week. SS Dezmen Southward has had some mental lapses (particularly against ASU) but is a sure, hard-hitting tackler. FS Michael Caputo has been another surprise and is assignment-sure.

TL;DR version: Wisconsin will need to play a nearly flawless game offensively to beat OSU at night in the Shoe. My prediction: 34-21 OSU.

Pretty much in agreement based on what I have seen so far.

I think its more 40 something to 20 something personally. I think OSU is a bad match up for Wisky.

I'm a fan of the bolded part regarding the Wisky linebackers.
