Game Thread Wisconsin 13, tOSU 31 (Oct 10, 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN)

Shut down their bread and butter out of the gate (running)

Make a couple quick scores and but the ball in their QB's hands taking away, again, what they do best - pounding the ball.

That happens, its 27-13 OSU.

Wisconsin's offensive stats are very comparable to USC's outside of scoring offense.

Wisc-rush 14th, pass 61st, total 22nd, scor offense 19th
USC-rush 19th,pass 55th, total 25th, scor offense 51st

But Wisky's defense is terrible compared to USC's.

Wisc-rush 55th, pass 85th, total 70th, scor defense 64th
USC-rush 5th, pass 27th, total 5th, scor defense 3rd

When OSU's defensive line dominates Wisconsin's offensive line this game will not be close. I see this game as staying close in the first quarter(10-3). Second quarter OSU spreads them out and opens up the game(24-6). Defense continues to dominate in second half and allows the offense to grow and develop(31-6). No garbage TD this week and the rout is on in Columbus and voters start to recognize while Brutus beats down Bucky on the sideline.

I completely agree - game will start out close as we slowly wear them down with our stellar D-line play. A few Wisconsin turnovers will allow us to break it open late in the 2nd/early in the 3rd.
Buckeyes 27-9.

I've watched several UW games this year as well. My thoughts:

- Their running game is solid, but not electric (i.e., you don't have to worry about them getting a 70 yard run on a cutback due to overpursuit). I think our defense is too fast to have much trouble against this kind of slower, plodding, power running game.

- Their passing game is much, much better than I thought it would be coming into the year. That said, it's pretty vanilla in my opinion. The only part of it that scares me a bit is Graham, the TE. UW TEs have given OSU problems in the past.

- Their defense is not very good. They are giving up 24.6 points per game, and that's with a schedule that includes bad teams (Wofford), some teams that just don't have good offenses (MSU) and some that have terribly one-dimensional offenses (Minnesota).

Bottom line on offense and defense:

Defense -- UW, like USC, runs a pro-style offense, which is the type of offense that OSU's defense excels against. If any offense gives OSU's defense trouble, it is usually that with a mobile QB and/or quicker, smaller RBs. UW has neither. And UW doesn't have the talent at RB or WR that USC has, not to mention the fact that USC's offensive line is more talented and experienced than UW's. If OSU's defense can hold USC's offense to 16 points (7 of which were set up by an INT return inside OSU's 5 yard line), I don't see how UW will score more than 10-13 points.

Offense -- As long as we're not too one-dimensional on offense, I don't see how UW's defense will stop us, especially given their performance thus far against offenses that are clearly inferior to OSU's. In particular, I think rolling Pryor outside and giving him the option to throw or take off and run could provide us with huge gains on the offensive side of the ball. Just based on their track record, I don't see how UW holds OSU under 30 in this game, unless they come up with the game of their year so far.

Wisconsins backs have fumbled alot this season. The turn the ball over and we will crush them. I see them turning it over 3-5 times. Tolzien has went up against horrible secondaries so far. IMO we will make him play.

They have had problems on kick and punt coverage as well. It would not suprise me if we get a kick or punt return for a TD this weekend.

Wiscy's defense is full of holes. If Tress (Hazel?) chooses to, TP can light them up big time!
Wiscy's offense is their strength and we will have our hands full. But we should be able to just out score them and win.

SOOOOOOO....I need some help.

Anyone know of a good Buckeye bar in or near St. Augustine, Florida? That's right, I'll be forced to watch the Wisconsin game 2 hours east of Gainesville and I really don't feel like getting punched in the face by some classy Gator fans. Figured I'd plan in advance so I don't stroll into the local Gators Cafe and Saloon dressed in Scarlet and Gray.

i can tell you where not to go...
