Why is Life so Unfair to the SEC

Anyway, it was CBS's version of Mark May, Lou Holtz, and other dude. The one guy (not Archie Manning) was saying that since the SEC is the best conference, they should be allowed to change the overtime rules so that the "best team in football" isn't forced to play multiple-overtime games. And the others didn't slap him in the face.

Video - Jason Horowitz, Tim Brando, Spencer Tillman

Is that it? If so, that's not quite what was said (Brando was suggesting that overtime rules be re-evaluated, in general) but I can understand there being a bit of pandering since CBS will likely be in contract (re)negotiations with the SEC by spring at the latest. The same sort of thing happened at the close of last season (e.g. their lobbying for Florida to make the BCS title game, and praising the "toughest" conference and so on).

Did anyone catch the commentary sometime after LSU lost to Arkansas? I can't remember if it was the post-game show, or the halftime show of the next game. I can't remember who the next game even was, though. That whole time period has blended together into my memory. Anyway, it was CBS's version of Mark May, Lou Holtz, and other dude. YES!!! I saw that very same thing. I happen to turn it just long enough to hear that idiot say that.

That does not look like it. I seem to remember a different background.

I don't think that's it, either. It was a show that I believe had Archie Manning as one of the commentators. But he wasn't the one who said it. Tim Brando from your video said similar stuff to what I remember being said in the show I saw, but I was laughing at how funny the guy was for saying what he said. It was that bad. Of course, I may have been caught up in the moment, too.

I am pretty sure you heard right because I rememeber the same thing. If I rememebr right the guy was banging his fist on the desk too when he said it. It all kind of ran together the minute he said "SEC is the best BLAH BLAH BLAH so we should change the BLAH bLAH bLAH" It was hard to focus.

Appy State?

Be it that I consider you one of the few SEC fans who uses more than your brain stem , I wanted to ask a question:

Why, in any given conversation or article about college football, does your average SEC fan make a post about the Buckeyes regardless of the topic at hand?

Aw...c'mon. What Is the likelihood that the subject of the discussion with the Big-10 fan involves the relative strength of the conferences? I mean, it seems to be a rule that you have to slam the SEC every other post when the discussion of the BCS or bowl season comes up. When that inevitable topic is breached, the easy answer for an SEC fan to take is the last meeting between the two conferences. It is a crutch for those not analytically inclined. That was a beat down that will last as long as we had to listen to the Nebraska folks - which is to say a few years. It is just a "Yeah - but...." reflex for the one sentence repartees that make up most message board exchanges. At least that is my guess. That, and jealousy that you all are back in the hunt and no SEC teams is.

Well assuming a miracle happens (i.e. two losses occur next week) Georgia's in it.
