Why is Life so Unfair to the SEC

Guys, why bother making up sarcastic delusional posts? The real thing is out there-

SEC teams lose to SEC teams.

This fact stands out camparing teams.

People are saying that LSU can't be the best team is the nation because they lost to Ark in the 3rd overtime? Are you kidding? Ark can beat anyone. So can Ga, Tenn and Aub.

What 3 teams have we lost to? SEC teams. Check who has lost to who.

When they made the SEC Championship game they said there would never be another NC champ out of the SEC. But instead it it has showed that if you win the SEC you are just about the best team in the nation.

LSU wins the SEC and what happens? Think about LSU's two losses. Both of them were in the 3rd overtime against SEC teams. If they blow the right team out in the Sugar Bowl they are back in it.

Re: SEC self destruction ???

LSU had ALOT of injuries. I am still pretty confident that they would absolutely kill ANY Big 10 team. Bottom line, a one loss OSU which is really not that good is in a better position than a much better LSU, UGA, or Fla teams. All three of these teams would spank OSU and/or any other team in that conference. All 3 of these teams would probably beat every other team in the nation.

The BCS is a fraud and this year proves it. It is past time for a playoff. The best team in the nation is not going to win the NC this year...

-You are still going to hear howls of LSU beaing the best team in America/SEC too tough despite 2 losses to unranked 4 loss teams during the regular season.

On a completely serious note, Lou Holtzsh just said on Gameday Final that LSU was the best team and voters should forget about their two (2) losses and vote them number 1. He then went on an incoherent rant that ended with there needs to be a playoff so LSU can prove its dominance.

It's going to be funny when probably the most balanced offense they will face all year long (Tennessee) puts 40 on them without overtime next week.....

What we are seeing now is the "squeaking wheel" effect. Well known coaches and even fans can have an effect on the media by promoting their conference's mediocrity by spinning it "conference strength".
All Buckeye fans and Big Ten coaches should start talking in the media
"promoting" their conference. (read...whining) :tongue2:

Others receiving votes:

I'm willing to bet that Notre Dame will get a vote. Aren't they on a two-game winning streak?

I think it's funny the reasons SEC fans have that Ohio State shouldn't be allowed in the national championship game. The reasons I hear are OSU's schedule was too easy, and they got blown out by Florida last year. First, Ohio State had no control over the schedule when the season started. Second, that excuse has nothing to do with 2007. The only real reason why Ohio State should be out of a national championship game is because they lost to Illinois.

To be fair though, they think ANY non SEC team that makes it would be middle of the road in the SEC. Thats why I say as ignorant, myopic and frustrating as they are just ignore them. Nothing will ever change their minds, nothing. They still will argue who won the Civil War, you think they are going to all of a sudden get an open mind on college football? No, Lincoln had a chance to do us all a favor and let them go, he decided to keep them and now we are stuck with them forever.

If William T. Sherman couldn't drive home the point, I doubt a bunch of BP'rs stand much of a chance.

Even if their teams go out and have a horrible bowl season, they just write it off to being worn down from a brutal SEC schedule; whereas everyone else is still fresh from playing in their weak conferences.

I think it comes down to the fact that until recently they never really had anything but SEC football. They had crappy ag-based economies, very few good universities (and those were looked down upon), no decent cultural institutions (still don't), no pro sports and their only two significant cultural innovations (jazz and the blues) were ostracized by the white population and headed north. Seriously, other than stock car racin', chicken fightin' SEC football there wasn't a hell of a lot for these people to hang their hat on.

Did anyone catch the commentary sometime after LSU lost to Arkansas? I can't remember if it was the post-game show, or the halftime show of the next game. I can't remember who the next game even was, though. That whole time period has blended together into my memory. Anyway, it was CBS's version of Mark May, Lou Holtz, and other dude. The one guy (not Archie Manning) was saying that since the SEC is the best conference, they should be allowed to change the overtime rules so that the "best team in football" isn't forced to play multiple-overtime games. And the others didn't slap him in the face.
