Why Do You Live Where You Do

Michigan wishes this was true.

No comparison whatsoever.

Pacific Ocean > Lake Michigan & Lake Erie
Portland > Detroit
Cascade and Coastal Mountain Ranges > The Landfills that are all over 75.

It hurts the heart that you would stoop so low as to even attempt that comparison. You nearly rendered me nat-atonic!

Oregon is a beautiful state, my dad dragged to the Grants Pass area when I was young and we lived there for a few miserable years in various camper shells and glorified lean-tos. The thing I remember most about it though was off the hippies, they were everywhere

Work and only work has taken me away from the Midwest. I'm actually actively looking at an oppurtunity in Chicago that has recently presented itself. By far my favorite big city in the US.

The weather is nice here but I miss the upper midwest culture. I have now lived on both coasts and texas and have found I like the midwest the best at this point in my life.

I never thought I'd be working in NW PA but an opportunity presented itself and it's been the best career decision of my life. I actually live in NE Ohio but the commute isn't bad. I do keep my eyes open looking for the next step as I've done about all I can do where I am. Fortunately, the compensation is fair and I have a great CEO so I can be particular in looking at other options.

I'd like to be closer to a bigger city as Youngstown doesn't really qualify as such these days. I wouldn't mind finding my way back to Columbus.

I had no choice to make. I had 21 years with CSX (Baltimore&Ohio R.R.) at Youngstown. Jacksonville was my new home where i have now retired here.
Once here in Florida i found my self playing golf year round. I thought of moving back to Ohio but the nice weather here has me somewhat spoiled.
I still love going back to Y-town for visits with friends and relatives once in a while. It's sad to see the economy struggeling somewhat up in the north/east part of Ohio. Youngstown was such a great thriving metropolis back in the 60's and 70's but then all the steel mills started shuting down and that started the domino effect up there. But i still love going back there to visit no matter what.
