He used his brain & set out a plan (involving kryptonite, a suit of power armor he built and I don't recall what else)...something superman rarely does.

Think of Batman as the ultimate boyscout...he's always prepared. He would take the time to find Spiderman's weaknesses & then put together a scheme involving them. The webslinger just wanders around aimlessly waiting to get his ass kicked.
