Who will be Penn State's HC on Feb 2, 2012? (Note - don't merge old posts)

Dan Mullen? Greg Schiano?
I like Mullen, but will he leave the SEC? I think he'd be a fine hire, but I'm just not certain of him.

Greg Schiano... I just don't know if his star has faded or not, but if they like him then I wouldn't blame them. It just doesn't seem he's been able to sustain the Rutgers program from their Ray Rice, Brian Leonard days.

Patterson and Peterson will be named in every head coaching search so I just left them out.

At MissSt, Mullen will never be better than the top half of the conference. Sooner or later you gotta figure he'll look for a step up.

Peterson isn't leaving Boise. I know it sounds absurd, but I've seen numerous people say he's happy there and isn't going anywhere.
Why the hell would he want to leave? He gets to have his team beat up on the local slow kids while beating his chest and yelling "not fair!!" to the big boy conferences while ESPN blows him and his team the whole time. Sounds like he has it made.

And then come along and beat Oklahoma, Virgina Tech and Georgia.

You mean Chokelahoma during their run of 5 straight BCS bowl losses? Or winning by 3 points over a VT team that lost to I-AA James Madison and got ape-raped by Stanford in the Orange Bowl? Or Georgia who has beaten four I-A teams so far this season whose records are 3-4, 3-4, 2-5, and 4-3?

Those three games either came as the first game of the season (where they had all summer to prepare) or a bowl game (where they had over a month to prepare). Color me unimpressed.

Yeah, I tend to feel the same way. But, that Choklahoma game was still, IMO, one of the best games I've ever watched. They do deserve a modicum of respect for scheduling at least one legit team instead of just another FCS [Mark May]bird, but they hardly deserve to be called giant killers because they beat them. That choklahoma team had serious flaws (Paul Thompson at QB, a gimpy Peterson), Oregon was in their 1st game under Kelly with a new QB and was clearly unprepared, VT had serious problems as evidenced the following week, and this year's UGA is buoyed by a very weak SEC East. I still think they're a middling program in a legit BCS conference.
