all up to "D-ring": Incorrect. I have only 7 minutes until I leave work, however, so I'll give a clue:

These particular objects are usually made out of glass, not metal.

Also, where it is made doesn't matter whatsoever.

Also, Alcatraz has nothing to do with what this object is.

And finally, along with most obviously, this is an object that many people collect.
