Who Are Your Top Players for 2008? (merged)

I wouldn't be surprised if this next class ends up being 19-20. I think all of the talk of 2008 being a small class is overblown after banking as many scholarships as we did this year.

The things is you could be right, but for you to be right you are going to have to see guys currently on schollie transfer, get kicked off the team, or go the nfl early...There would have to be 6-7 guys to that to get to that number...

I don't have any question that we could find 19-20 guys to get to that number, just that we will have that many to give...

One thing to mention also is that even if we do get to 19-20 schollies, it may not be until after the season when the staff has a better idea if there will be any players leaving early/transferring/getting medical waivers/etc.

This ought to spark a little discussion on this slow Friday...

Ohio Varsity's Terrific 20

1. Brandon Beachum
2. Zebrie Sanders
3. Mike Adams
4. Brandon Moore
5. Cordale Scott
6. Kyle Rudolph
7. Johnny Adams
8. Devier Posey
9. Domonick Britt
10. Mike Zordich
11. Nathan Williams
12. Jake Stoneburner
13. Isiah Pead
14. Devoe Torrence
15. Darius Ashley
16. Dan McCarthy
17. D.J. Woods
18. Harold Coates
19. Bart Tanski
20. Michael Shaw

I can't tell what is a greater travesty...that McCarthy is that low or that guys like Justin Staples or Jamiihr Williams aren't on the list.

Ohio State has offered four in-state kids; how are those players not the top four on everybody's list, at least for right now? Instead, the OhioVarsity crew ranks them as follows: M. Adams (#3); Ruddolph (#6); Torrence (#14); and McCarthy (#16). I guess that the Buckeye staff has no clue about talent evaluation. :roll2:

Let's just say that I don't like the OhioVarsity list at all.

I don't know ifit is just me, but I do not see Beachum as being the #1 player in a fairly loaded class for Ohio this year.

No one does.

This is just like last year when they had Peake as the top player in the state.

They are either really clueless or just want to cause a fuss so they get more attention.

The top spot in the state is down to either Mike Adams or Devoe Torrence.

Cant go wrong with either one.

I think the only reason they might have put Sanders ahead of Adams on their list is potential/athletic ability. Sanders is extremely athletic and at the Junior AA combine down in San Antonio he ran the best 40 of all the lineman at the camp, and along with Shugarts was reported to have the best feet. I tend to personally like Adams better though as he's bigger, stronger, and he's much further along in pass protection than Sanders.

If the OSU staff likes Adams better than Sanders, well that says all you need to know right there.
