I voted for scUM even though I don't think they are the most likely to beat OSU. scUM worries me the most, just because the downside is the biggest. I wouldn't like it but I can handle losing to PSU or Ill. Allowing DRod to beat us in his first year, on the road, as a big underdog would be by far the most devasting loss on the table.

Ditto. A win for UM this year and we would never hear the end of it from those fans of the up north persuasion.

And it would be more devastating than devasting (whatever that is.) j/k! :oh:

EDIT: I forgot reason #3: Morgan :slappy: Trent.

Poor Morgan. I think maybe he should pull a Chad Johnson, er, I mean 85 in spanglish, and legally change Trent to Toast (although he did chase down an SEC player from behind vs UF in their last bowl game. I heard that player was banned for life from the SEC due to the fact he could not out run a slow Big Ten player.)

Still, the UM game is number one in my book of potential nightmares for this season.

Having seen too many "great" Ohio State teams lose, I know all it really takes is one play at the right time and a ref/refs who make one bad call/no-call. The difference in winning and losing can be paper thin. My Buckeyes have broke my heart more than any woman could ever. :(

Northwestern. This is the week after a bye, and away. Guess I'm just remembering what happened in 2004. Historically, tOSU doesn't do well coming off a bye week. Penn State 2005 is another good example. Shouldn't be a problem, however, if the current positive attitude and focus stay in place.

And not what happened in 2006 and 2007. I've seen girl scout troops with stingier defenses then the one we saw against NW last season.

Yea new season, new team but that would be one hell of a turn around.

How do you figure?

ZERO points on the defense. 120 yds, 0 yds rushing. 3 turnovers.

Uhhh. What?

120 TOTAL yards on 66 plays, 1.8 yards per play.
NINE punts. Two interceptions. A fumble lost.
Zero yards rushing on 33 attempts.
The only points they got were on a 99 yard kick return to the house.

What more could you possibly ask from a defense? They pitched a shutout.

1. vs. Penn State - well, with morelli gone that guarantees us 14 fewer points than normal. that in and of itself is cause for alarm. state penn is the best team on our schedule at this point.

2. vs. Michigan - this is the game i think about the most and could be the biggest land mine on the schedule. this is their season. while that is true for most teams including scum. its bigger this time. dickrod was brought to scum for 1 reason, to beat tOSU. secondly, has scum played an actual game yet? don't know how many of you have watched them play this season but they are all over the place. sometimes they will do something that looks pretty impressive. other times they loose 5 fumbles on 5 consecutive drives. by the end of the year scum land could be sporting a half decent team. doubtful as good as state penn or illi. but the worry is if they are half competent by the time the game rolls around... there isn't going to be any tape to prove it or for our team to study. they will come into columbus a complete unknown. thats dangerous.

tie 3. at Illinois - this isn't last years illi team. they are a great team and will play us very tough. but after last years loss, we win this one. probably a close game, but this is a win.

tie 3. at Michigan State - well, the d line has been a significant weakness both in run support and pass rush. they are going to get plenty of reps in the former. im hoping to see a lot of growth from the end of the purdue game to the end of the scum light game in the trenches. at the end of the day one demensional teams don't win big games.

The Rose Bowl has me concerned. Playing USC at home, again... course there'll be a new attitude, a new QB and Beanie and the refs won't be from the Pac 10, but it's a home game for the Trojans in a venue that has not been kind to the Bucks in a long while. ('ceptin 97 and even then it was dicey)
