Penn State.

I was unimpressed with Penn State. It didn't look to me like they beat the Bucks. The Bucks just didn't play well. Of course, that's how a defensive battle tends to appear, and I give Penn State credit in beating the Bucks.

And a win over PSU gives the Bucks the outright Big10 championship. The win over Texas doesn't really do much for the Bucks. Though, I'd guess that Penn State would be in the championship game, which may not be so bad.

Texas was a begining-of-the-year game. It was an epic game by both teams, despite the unhappy ending, and Ohio State was still trying to smooth out the QB spot. Put the Troy Smith who beat Michigan a couple weeks ago in that game, and Ohio State wins by 17.

All that, and now I've noticed the hibernating PSU fans coming out of their hiding spots. They've gone from good-natured fans of a legendary team to throwing bottles of urine at the OSU marching band.
I'm pretty sure, with how low Penn State was ranked going into the Ohio State game, and the fact that they lost the next week...that we would have jumped over Penn State, and the computers would definitely have had us over Penn State with our stronger schedule. I'm positive had we beat Texas we'd be sitting at #2 in the BCS right now...not Penn State.

I vote for Texas b/c I think we'd be in the NC game w/only one loss to PSU, as has been said before in this thread. That being said, I don't really mind UT and I absolutely cannot stand PSU or their fans (and I think we'd smash PSU if we played them again); accordingly, from a purely personal standpoint, I'd say PSU. It is really hard, though, but overall, taking the UT loss back makes more sense.

Haven't read through this whole thread so I'm sure this has been said but....PSU.

If we beat them we are undisputed B10 champs with a BCS game in our back pocket, rooting for upsets to get us a shot at the NC game.

The one thing I like about these polls that have discussion threads attached to them is that you can explain the context of your vote.

To wit, I voted for the Texas game because I reject one of the underlying assumptions of the poll. The implication of this poll is that you can only take away one loss, and must therefore examine each game in a vacuum, outside of any seasonal context. My vote for Texas is based on a firm belief that you CANNOT take that loss out of the context of the Penn State match-up. If we had beaten Texas, we would have won at PSU IMHO.

BTW: To those who suggest we got our butts kicked in Crappy Valley: No we didn't. We threw a bad interception. We outgained them in yards and first downs, in spite of Troy not yet having his shit together. The game was handed to PSU, not taken by them. V. Young took the game in the 'Shoe the way that Leinart and Bush together took the game in South Bend.

I do agree with you that it isn't realistic to say that only one loss can be eliminated and that eliminating that loss won't affect hte other.

However, in a hypothetical question, one can make up any paramaters they want too--no matter how unreasonable. And my original question here was just that...hypothetical. You only get to choose ONE of the 2 losses to remove, you can't consider how removing that loss affects the other one, or any other games this season. Unrealistic? Yes. But it's just a question for fun anyway. :)
