What's Some of Your Favorite Stuff?

My shaving edition list:

DR Harris and Truefitt & Hill shaving creams and aftershave balms
Vintage Gillette safety razors
Japanese Feather blades
Taylor of Old Bond St has my favorite sandalwood, otherwise exactly the same here. I bought a synthetic brush for travel (they dry so fast) and it became my everyday brush- it's a RazoRock Plissoft. It was 15 dollars and I am more than pleasantly surprised at how it feels vs a badger.

I'm about to be picked on.

By whom? Some chumps who pay $4 for a gillette cartridge and then smear some chemical goo out of a can on their face?

Don't worry, one whiff of Red Man and the urge to drive through White Cottage cranking George Jones overcomes me.

Thump mostly. It's the dichotomy of being a bilingual redneck.

100% cotton sheets from LL Bean. First set wore out quickly and I sent them back and they replaced them. Cool for summer nights. There are other options out there for 100% cotton sheets but non are cheap.
Rega turntables. Have the latest Planar 1 and it's extremely quiet. Put a Sumiko cart on it and it's terrific sound . No clicks. No noise. Just music, even on records from 1983! That's 37 year old records!

I don't go for all of that fancy stuff (and often walk around with a 5-10 days of stubble (I just clean up the neck and edges) per my wife's preference, although I'm currently clean-shaven. But I do get my razors and blades directly from DORCO (which apparently isn't an option anymore although one can still get them from Amazon), which makes a solid, if not extraordinary, product at a much lower price than Gillette/Schick and, the last time I checked, the middlemen outfits like Harry's. If I was going to go full on fancy and make a ritual of it, I'd get a straight razor and probably end up decapitating myself.

I tried the straight razor route. Went out and bought a vintage Wade & Butcher, had it professionally sharpened, dropped another 70 clams on the linen/leather strap. At the end of the day, I just couldn't make it work. I could do one rough pass and then had to finish up with a double edge. It's like wearing a fedora. I like the idea of being a hat guy in the abstract, but it just doesn't translate into the real world.

I bought some heavy, pocket t-shirts from LL Bean. First time I've ever owned anything from them, and while your standard Made in China provenance, I have to admit that I've been really impressed with the quality.
