LoKyBuckeye

I give up. This board is too hard to understand.
For the golfers...

What brand of clubs does everyone use? I used a friends clubs over the weekend that were made by Callaway and I think I may be in love (just don't tell my wife). Now... he's a great golfer and is considering trying to go pro... I could never afford them but they were great clubs. So I was curious to see what the golfers on this board use?

I love the "Big Bertha" woods, but my irons are Pings. Old Pings, at that. But, I'm poor. Ideally, I need to have some good knock-offs made specifically for me, because at 6'4", I am about two inches too tall for every club I've ever picked up. Once I can justify it to the wife, I would like to get some Tommy Armour knock-offs.

I have King Cobra SSi irons, steel shafts. (Bought 'em used from Golf Galaxy; great place to shop for semi-new clubs.)

I also carry 3 drivers. I have a TaylorMade 200 steel 12.0 degree loft. (I use that one almost exclusively), a Great Big Bertha; 11 degree (also Golf Galaxy purchases), and a Northwestern POS that I had from a previous set. I also carry an old Top Flite driver, 3 and 5 wood but rarely ever use them.

I don't remember anything about my putter, other than I only have a vague idea of how to use it and that it was cheap.

Two balls.
Damn, I saw this thread too late!

Anyway, i used to be a club fitter for henry Griffitts Co., so i have their irons.
Goldwin Driver and 3 wood. A very old PGA R91 Sand Wedge. Putter alternates between a Zebra "roll face' and an old Lynx Jerry Barber model blade putter.
I plan on getting a new higher-tech driver this year, but haven't decided on what yet.

I do not golf but I have a set of clubs custom made for Dean Beaman, the previous Director of the PGA. The few times I have played in the last decade people that know get pretty excited to see those clubs. I also have a golf bag given to me by the founder of Golfballs.com. I probably have 12-15 dozen balls and all sorts of towels and golf giveaways from my old company.

I'm like FKA but my arms are a little longer. Golf is just not my game.

After seeing Nightmare's post I believe that company made the clubs I have. I also have a few Big bertha's and other high dollar drivers.

I have the following

Driver-Callaway 10 degree Steelhead III
Woods-Callaway Steelhead 3 Metal and 5 Metal
Irons-Callaway X-14 (1 iron thru 9)
Wedges-Callaway X-14 Approach Wedge, Lob Wedge, Pitching Wedge
Arnold Palmer Sand Wedge

Putter-Odyssey White Hot #2 Center Shaft

As you can see I have more than 14 clubs. It depends on the golf course on the mix of the clubs that go in the bag. I also have a Callaway standup bag and umbrella. I paid not a cent for everything I have listed here. A few years ago Budget Rent A Car had a promotion in which they gave points when you rented a vehicle from them. The points in turn could be used to "purchase" various items. I wanted for a time that that they gave you a promo discount to redeem your points and viola new bag, clubs etc.

I've got a Ping G2 Driver and 7 wood. The Driver is an 8.5 with an Aldila shaft (lower trajectory).

I also use Ping irons that are +1" (due to my height) in a PW-3i set.

My wedges are both Cleveland CG10, and I carry a 54 (sand) and a 60 (lob). Nice feel to those Cleveland wedges.

My putter is an Odyssey 2-ball (White Steel).

I use Nike Distance X-Turbo balls. For some reason, these balls come off of my club even better than the upper end balls do.

Finally, the nicest glove I can find is the Footjoy Weathersof. The best thing about it is also the price ($10 or $11).

Hope this helps in your search for clubs. I am really happy with the clubs I have (even though I'm still not as good as I'd like to be). Another good place to start to get a lot of info on clubs (and other equipment) is here:

edit: Sorry, the irons are G2s.

Driver - 10.5 degree Great Big Bertha II
3 Wood - 14 degree Calloway Haweye VFT
Irons - Ping I3+ (black dot)
Gap Wedge - Calloway Big Bertha Pro Series
Putter - Ping Zing 2

I definitely need a new 5 wood as I don't carry one in my bag right now and I need a new sand wedge as I wrapped my last one around a tree. Hell, I might as well get a new putter as well since I have been putting like shit lately.
