Mizuno irons (very nice, and what I prefer to hit 95% of the time...to hell with the woods)
Hippo Driver (goes a long, long way...problem is, which way???)
some old Northwestern fairway woods (they're cheap and from my first starter set, but I hit them pretty straight most of the time)
A very nice putter (I can't even remember the name of it because my clubs have been in storage for almost 2 years, and I only had that putter for a little while...was a gift)

Its not the club... :tongue2:

It has to be the club. I hit my Titleist 975j and my other 983k fine aswell. I honestly havent got to use the r7 very much since I got it . I am not familiar with how the weights are used. Havent had time to sit down and read the info on the weights.

Either way I still suck at golf :biggrin:

What is the story with those R7's? Anybody use them a lot? Do they have a good rep? They're cheap as shit on ebay right now, but I don't want to spend any money on stuff I don't know anything about.
I have not hit one personally, but from what I have been told by the golf people I know, is that for the average golfer those weights will not make one bit of difference. I hear mixed reviews on them, but thats the case with almost all equipment. Everyone has their loyalties. I would suggest for anyone looking to buy a driver, that you demo it on a range instead of inside against a net, and even better yet, demo it during a round of golf (you will be more inclined to use your real swing) any courses that sell equipment have demo drivers, and they will let you take them out for a round if you just ask.

Nasty, I'm a 12 handicap and play with some very good golfers (I'm the hack in the group). I've hit the R7 and can confirm that the ball jumps off the face. I loved the weighting on the club and it was much more forgiving than my 4 yr old Ping and 5 year old Titlest drivers. A few of my friends hit the R7 and have added considerable distance (10 yards)...they were always pretty accurate so I can't confirm how forgiving the club is. These guys hit new drivers each year so a 10 yard jump is pretty significant. I have noticed that they are a little more hesitant to throw the R7 as compared to other models.

I've got a used Taylor Made Driver.
Generic Irons
Ping Putter.

To all of you out there who buy new drivers all of the time, spend your money on a good putter instead, you'll save more strokes.

Second, I will never buy another club without getting on the swing machine at Golfsmith. I was going to buy a Taylor Made Burner Bubble a few years ago and the guy who worked there told me to get on their swing machine so he could measure my swing speed.

Came to find out that would have been a terrible club for me b/c of my swing speed (About 117mph). He matched a shaft to my swing speed. (I got one of those purple and yellow graphite shafts, not sure what the name is.)

The swing machine is free to use so you have no reason not to use it.

Best thing I ever did. I recommend all of you do the same as well.

Fiesta,
I guess what I am saying is regards to the moveable weights, is they are not going to make the average golfer all of a sudden be able to program in a draw, or a fade or whatever shot they think they want to hit, just by changing the weighting of the club. I have no doubt it can add a little distance, thats just what happens with new technology. My point was more concerned with the moveable weights which seem to be their big marketing approach to this club. I really think any of the drivers that have been put out in the past 2 years would probably give you at least 10 yards over a 4-5 year old club.

I have heard several people say they are very happy with their Cleveland Launchers as well.

Why so many wedges? You don't need that many. Especially a 49 and a 51.

Also, only hacks and homos throw clubs.

Homo.
Thump, I hit the PW 150 (its a little strong) and 49 degree about 135-140. Length isn't my problem (I'm talking golf) so I often need the wedges on approach shots. Also, I am not a club thrower but have dabbled in the trade. I expect bad things to happen when I swing so when my 60 yard approach travels 150 yards off the blade I'm neither suprised or mad. I would challenge your HOMO statement as I don't find club throwing gay, but if I find a ball retriever in your bag or some dude fishing balls out of the creek then I know you like the smell of another mans buttocks.

Just take half orthree quarter wings to dial down instead of having 18 wedges in your bag.

I don't have a golf ball retriever in my bag so you'll have to try again.
