I voted for the NC win because simply put, I want an NC every year and to me, that is the ULTIMATE success and that's the way I'd say the program looks at it as well.

Not that going to the NC and losing isn't a wonderful season. I just think the great programs shoot for and have NC aspirations every year with the championship victory being the ultimate goal (which IMO equals success).

you understand calling this a make or break game? your "correct answer" is not what melrun was getting at. consider:

it's apparent that he was considering a loss to florida to mean that the season would not be a success. this is a very poor perspective to have. fans who narrowly define success in this way are almost always going to set up a program for failure.

That post was at the end of page 4... I did not see that one... apologies for responding to you.

Great season Bucks... tonight would have been sweet... but it's still been a great year for a great team!

Proud of :osu:

Very true. It was a great year. This team played well and made Buckeye fans proud.

I saved my vote until tonight. Championship game loser = successful season.

Most of the season, regarless of our current ranking, we were "overrated" according to the media. Well, this number two ranking wasn't determined by the media. We proved we belonged amongst the elite.

Oh, btw, with our championship game appearance, we have now officially passed the fab 5 in accomplishments. Suck it skunkbears. Good luck next year in the NIT.

Good call :roll2:
I'm sorry the bandwagon got too bumpy for you tonight, but this bittersweet ending doesn't change what this team accomplished. A 6-10 pt margin all game is hardly embarrassing, and certainly nowhere near this 'practice squad' nonsense. Sometimes shots don't fall, and that spells doom against truly great teams.

OSU returned 1 starter & 4 players with a very young coach. We added 4 teenagers & one juco. Our superstar big played at < 100% all year, and w/ 1 hand for most of it.

Start of b10 play. Oden is still limited. Lewis & Harris settle for way too many threes. Conley is not as assertive, still feeling out his role. Our best bench scorer is hitting the wall as a frosh.

And where did we end up?

B10? Champions.
B10 Tourney? Champions.
Southern Region? Champions.
Final Four semis? Solid win over a heavily favored GTown.
National Championship? Lose to one of the great teams.

This was a tremendous accomplishment by a wild mixture of experience & youth, future nba stars and journeymen who caught fire.
