The Crazy World of Arthur Brown came to fame in 1968, when its song "Fire" reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and its self-titled debut album peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200. Brown was known for his theatrical performances, during which he wore a flaming metal helmet, face makeup and flamboyant outfits. Among the well-known rockers that have cited Brown as an influence are David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Peter Gabriel and KISS.
Carl Palmer was a member of the band from 1968 and 1969, before playing in Atomic Rooster and, subsequently, Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
