What kind of car do you drive?

Yeah, tape doesn't work down here, even in the shade (tried that already).

I'll see about the loaner tools option. I intend on just blocking the thing up with a piece of wood when a friend comes down to visit since he's a car guy, but that's not for a few more months.

I'm still driving the 2003 Galant that I was probably too embarrassed to say I drove when this thread was started in 2005. 92K miles in 10 years so hopefully I can keep it running for a while longer. Just got a new Town and Country for the wife so we take that pimp wagon everywhere we go. My car just has to get me the 6 miles to and from work 5 days a week.

My wife slid into the back of another car with my Galant several years ago and I have the tendency to bump the ladder that I store in the garage behind my car so I'm pretty sure I'm past the point of having any trade in value. Only option is to drive it into the ground. If I can get the 130K+ that we got out of her Sonata I'll be happy.

I bought 2008 Lexus IS350 in 2010. Enjoyed the car, but traded it in for a 2010 IS-F in early 2012. Recently decided to rid myself of all debt so I sold the IS-F and used the money left after paying off the loan to buy a Ford Fusion. I remember cruising along in the IS-F and looking down to find that I was doing a buck +. Never would have guessed it. Now, in the Fusion I feel like it takes an Act of God to get me to 80.

4 cylinder? I have a 2009 V6 SEL and it is very easy for me to hit 100 without realizing it. Cruise control has kept me out of trouble.

The irritating thing about it all is that on Edmunds, Cars, and KBB the value is right where I want to be for the Explorer. But all the dealers use the "Black Book" now and supposedly it is worth $2000 leas on there.

I have been to a few dealers around Indy and the best price I got was actually at Carmax where I stopped on a whim. While I would like to work with the Ford dealer that is a few miles away, it looks like the Next step is to head to one of the rural dealers.

No. It is the SEL. All in all it is a good car. I like the Sync feature and the interior is much more spacious than I anticipated. Comparatively speaking though, the performance drop off has been difficult to adjust to. To be expected when going from 420 hp and 375 ft lb of torque to 240 hp and 225 ft lb of torque. Champagne problems and all...

Why don't you just sell it privately?

Why don't you just sell it privately?
I have never really had good success doing that in the past. I could put it on Craigslist I guess and see what happens. Overall, I really hate dealing with buying and selling vehicles. I don't why I never get that great deal that I hear others talk about getting. I negotiate contracts all the time for work, but for some reason I suck at negotiating car deals.

My '98 Century is slowly giving up the ghost, but hopefully it can hold out for another few years (more like 5) without needing ridiculously expensive repairs.

On that note, anyone have a good way to keep a falling window up (regulator bit the dust) that isn't obvious its broken but doesn't require opening the door panel (more concerned about cracking the panel than actually replacing the part)?
I have a 2001 Century for a work car, and the door panel actually is very easy to remove. I had the same problem with the regulator, and it only took about an hour to do the job. The biggest problem I had was the heavy plastic under the panel, and the access to the regulator is kind of tight . Overall, a pretty easy job with just a few basic tools.
