Basically, the QB and WRs are carrying this team. The other units (even DLine sans Bosa) are not playing to Ohio State standards.

Tough to say about the RBs. They both have decent YPC and YAC numbers. They have not been given much opportunity to shine IMO.

Also if 'Ohio State standards' is being defined as the Meyer era, special teams is actually playing above that level at this point in the year.

The QB and WR can't carry a damn thing without time to throw it.

OL pass pro has been elite. They are struggling to run when outnumbered in obvious short yardage running spots. That is more on coaching than the OL.

And also scheme and playcalling.
Prince' struggles yesterday were the only time it seemed like they struggled with passpro.
TCU brought some heat too... but that was more a numbers thing.
Our TEs have not been very good at pass or run blocking either... and that's a big part of the problem facing stacked boxes, blitzes, and stunts.

Back to back years where the Linebackers are lost in their coverage drops. They have no "feel" for how to get in passing lanes, track receivers and generally make things difficult. If you can get a TE or WR anywhere slightly behind them, it turns into a huge window (especially when mixed with PA or misdirection). Coaching or football instincts, probably both.

Safeties should help tightening that as well, but it isn't happening. The middle of the defense is soft. I used to have confidence a Buckeye LB would read a play and pick a QB off (Harrison does have 1), but the last 2 years feels like free reign over the middle.

Anyway, we're 7 games in and a few positions seem to want to battle this competition out. Not fun.

(But that passing offense, you're cool)

Feels to me like a slightly more palatable version of 2013 defense.

If the DL doesn't make a play, something bad generally happens.
