The point was that when everyone wanted to follow notre dame and get the great white athletes and have a good image, miami was the one that said "hey these kids can play. Why not give them a chance to break the mold of an average kid in their situation." Miami recognized the greatness within these players and instilled a confidence in them that otherwise would not have been there. Miami created a sense of pride. Miami changed college football and let kids know that they don't have to be a rich christian athlete to play at a respectable program. No body cares to look at some of the situations the kids come out of and they just go about hating on them. Most of these kids had nothing to celebrate about but the U gave them a chance.

Bull-fucking-shit. Black kids had a chance to play college football well before the mid 19goddamn80's. GTFOH with the race card on this bullshit.

More like everyone else expected their players to go to school, follow rules and conduct themselves in a manner that didn't bring shame on the university.

Then Miami came along and said fuck all that we'll pay you to just show up on Saturdays and play well. We don't care about all the other stuff the traditional schools expect of their student athletes. As a matter of fact we don't care if you follow the rules of a civilized society, just win football games.

So you're saying that Jim Parker, Cornelius Greene, Jack Tatum, the Griffen brothers and hundreds of other pre-Thug U African American athletes at Ohio State were a bunch of Uncle Toms with no pride and trying to act like rich white Christians?

The Ohio State University was giving African American athletes opportunity when they wouldn't have even been allowed to enroll at Sunshine U. Don't ever f!cking forget that!

Of course he isn't - I take him to mean that they were rich (chortle, cough) Christian (some were, some may be atheists for all I - or kevwhenever knows) athletes - OK, we'll give him one out of three.

Oh, yes.. thank god for Miami University. I'm sure Dr. King would have been quite proud.

I'm sure when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat she was dreaming of the day when some university would commit crimes so people who shared her skin color could win some football games.

I have to wonder how awesome Ernie Davis would have been if he had never had to play the rich white christian mans game.

I forgot. Everyone grows up in the same situation as you. Its not like they don't have both their parents. no no cant be true. its not like they have brothers influencing them to get into crimes. Wait let me guess. Maybe "they should just get a job" Cause its that easy. "They don't know discipline" Yeah lets see your great discipline when your brought up in a bad situation. Nope Nope none of that is true. they were all brought up in the sub urbs and were risen by great parents and everyone in the neighborhood was happy dappy. I'm not saying that Lamar Thomas's comments are right. I think they were idiotic. But America believes in throwing people into a situation with little resources and expect them to grow up to be "great americans." I also forgot to mention the 11th commandment "though shall not make a mistake" How can America leave a kid to grow up in an environment that many times promotes crimes and then when he gets to college he must be perfect. But no thats completely rational. The public school system is great and everyone gets the same quality education and up-being.
