I forgot. Everyone grows up in the same situation as you. Its not like they don't have both their parents. no no cant be true. its not like they have brothers influencing them to get into crimes. Wait let me guess. Maybe "they should just get a job" Cause its that easy. "They don't know discipline" Yeah lets see your great discipline when your brought up in a bad situation. Nope Nope none of that is true. they were all brought up in the sub urbs and were risen by great parents and everyone in the neighborhood was happy dappy. I'm not saying that Lamar Thomas's comments are right. I think they were idiotic. But America believes in throwing people into a situation with little resources and expect them to grow up to be "great americans." I also forgot to mention the 11th commandment "though shall not make a mistake" How can America leave a kid to grow up in an environment that many times promotes crimes and then when he gets to college he must be perfect. But no thats completely rational. The public school system is great and everyone gets the same quality education and up-being.

Are you reading what you're writing? You sound quite silly. I'm certainly not going to now list my "I am friendly to black people credentials" but I will say you seem to view blacks as helpless victims whereas I like to think of them as people.

Comical. I have a little experience with economically-disadvantaged kids. In fact, in my experience I've learned its people like you who hinder these kids. The excuses, the 'blame game', the 'you won't fit in" BS...

People like you enable the vicious cycle. Read Ruby Payne, Champ. It will enlighten you.

Kids need opportunities...they also need discipline, proper modeling, and especially accountability.

A temporary crutch does nothing for these kids. In fact, it adds to the heap.

Why teach responsibility and that shit when you can just look the other way because the lad can score points? This isn't about development of people, man, this is about touchdowns.

That public school system does a great job of that. I've worked with inner city kids at one of our downtown preschools, and the teachers are awful. They don't teach any discipline. They let the kids screw off. And then these kids are turned down for highschool. Then they go about not caring about a thing. Many people seem content with just observing the situation and talking of how bad they are

The point was that when everyone wanted to follow notre dame and get the great white athletes and have a good image, miami was the one that said "hey these kids can play. Why not give them a chance to break the mold of an average kid in their situation." Miami recognized the greatness within these players and instilled a confidence in them that otherwise would not have been there. Miami created a sense of pride. Miami changed college football and let kids know that they don't have to be a rich christian athlete to play at a respectable program. No body cares to look at some of the situations the kids come out of and they just go about hating on them. Most of these kids had nothing to celebrate about but the U gave them a chance.

Here... you'll need this:
