What book are you currently reading, or recommend?

I'm reading the B&N classics for two reasons: To catch up on some classic works that I haven't read before, and because they're cheap and right now you can buy two and get one free. I'm all about saving the benjamins.

I've read Jane Austen, Frankenstein (which was kinda crap, didn't like it), the Jungle Book, Grimm's Fairy Tales... all kinds of stuff. I've already read Dumas, and Monte Christo is one of my favorite books of all time. I should go back and re-read the Musketeers books. Those were fun.

Same for me. I haven't bought any of the books I read - I'm lucky to live in a Chicago suburb with an excellent library.

STEPHEN KING!
200px-11-22-63.jpg

Just finished his new one, 11/22/63, about time-travel and the chance to change history by stopping the JFK assassination. Interesting to see Lee Harvey Oswald as a character, also some overlap with characters from "It" (since much of the story takes place in small-town Maine). King doesn't try to rework the whole butterfly-effect concept, he just gives us his take on an old idea. Definite movie potential in this one.

Reading this now. Good book so far.

Incredible reading. I've already read it but, it's too good of a book to read only once.

Just finished Volume One of Winston Churchill's A History of the English Speaking Peoples. Took me a fcuking month but it was worth it.

Fcuking Volume THREE arrived yesterday... without #2. What the hell am I supposed to do with that? (That's rhetorical, by the way...)

I'll be ready for some Dickens and Dumas soon.

Tale of Two Cities was a joy to read and teach (once the boys got acquainted with the speed and style of the novel)... if you haven't read it, you should include in your random walk through high school lit

Obviously The Count of Monte Cristo is just amazing.
