Well, what's your thoughts on Barbaro?

RIP Barbaro. :(

Imagine if humans had to be euthanized if they broke their leg.
I'd be put to sleep :( ...and I feel bad for Barbaro, I was at the Preakness when he broke his leg. We saw him leave in the Equestibulance or whatever they call it. He had a motorcade on his behalf leaving Pimlico. Two motorcycle cops a police car infront and behind the ambulance. It was definitely sad.

Pity about Barbaro...

I look forward to hearing about the "presents" some of you will be receiving in the mail from elliemae. :wink2:

Well.....where would I begin!:sneaky: Actually the cruel heartless saps have no balls that put up nasty pictures!
They are neutered mutts in my mind! HA!
My horse had a fracture & was fixed at Ohio State & went on to have a highly successful show career in the Quarter horse show circuit & can still be shown. I just don't have the time right now. He could have been a statistic like Barbaro but everything went as planned & we were so "religious"(I use that term 100% only to his healing process) on his comeback! Everything had to be followed to a "T"!
I knew Barbaro was living on a wing & a prayer. It was best for him though to be put down.
I went through a fraction of what they did with him as I did with Sonny!
Sonny's fix was a lot more sensible to do. But a slip up could be bad. He had over 36 staples in his hind leg for three weeks, keeping it clean from infection, keeping him sane(ugh) it was a ton of work.
His worst time was waking up from surgery & they extubated him & he could not breathe & this was explained to me what might happen since I was there. It was seconds but seemed a lifetime till they had him breathing with tubes up his nostrils again & blood flying everywhere but the concern was getting him breathing again. They never know if this will happen until they extubate the horse as it awakens.
It took from February 1st to the end of May till he was completely healed at my comfort zone for work & then carefully.
I don't have children so he takes their place & he is worth every penny & tear I have cried for him. So for those that have children you are lucky! Would you treat your children as Barbaro the way you are posting on here?
I paid $2500 for him & traded a yearling & was offered $13,000 for him a few years back & I'm glad I never sold him. I have owned him since he was 3 & he will be 20 in May. He was pushed into a 2 year old show horse & was not quite ready mentally & physically & he blew a fuse I believe & I took it slow & framed him into a top notch show horse! I can drag him out of a field & in an hours time he can show.
Then there are my dogs whom are kids too! I have my Greyhound going in for teeth cleaning which requires him to go under anesthesia & Greyhounds have a different system than most canines & require more attention.
Dr. Couto from Ohio State said they are put on this planet to make a veterinarians life difficult. So I'm on pins & needles about this tomorrow.
Have a good day!:grr:
