this is on purpose. IMO. Harbaugh really has his mind made up already but let McNamara start and play most of game 1 to try to keep him happy and from transferring too quickly.

put him in late in this game against a worn out totally overmatched defense to continue the moment against a even more overmatched defense next week and say “look at how good he is, he won the job”
