Whether or not UNC jumps us IF they beat Clemson will be decided where they rank UNC this week.

Exactly

and they went into the weekend with 3 different 2 loss teams ahead of them

Notre Dame, Baylor, FSU and Stanford could all well still round out the top 10 with 2 losses each. If it looks something like that on Tuesday night we can rest much easier on the UNC jumping us thing.

UNC will absolutely jump us if they beat Clemson in the ACCCG while we're sitting home. The committee will position them to make the jump this week.

Here's how I see it.

IN
Oklahoma
Clemson-UNC winner
Sparty-Iowa winner

That leaves one spot up for grabs between
Alabama--controls their own destiny by beating Florida.
Ohio State--can't do anything at this point but come out of the bathroom with their dicks in their hands
Stanford--will the committee jump a 2-loss conference champion over a 1-loss Ohio State that didn't even win its division?

We didn't get as much help as we'd have liked yesterday, but we got enough (thanks FSU and Stanford).

Need Florida to beat Bama and, just to be safe, USC to beat Stanford.

I'm guessing the rankings will be (2/3 4/5 and 6/7 might flip)
  1. Clemson
  2. Alabama
  3. Oklahoma
  4. Iowa
  5. Sparty
  6. Ohio State
  7. UNC
  8. Stanford

Exactly how I see it. Might want Sparty to bitch slap Iowa too. A two-loss Sparty that loses close to Iowa or a one-loss Iowa that loses close to Sparty could also be a problem. It would be AMAZING to go to a Florida board after a win over Bama gets the Buckeyes in . . . but I'd put the odds of Bama winning that game at over 99%.

Crazy thing is that with an 8-team playoff with first round home field games, there'd be a huge chance of us heading to East Lansing for a rematch with Sparty. With Warriner upstairs calling plays, I would relish that game. Assuming Iowa didn't get blown out, you might even see three Big Ten teams in, and the SEC! meltdown would be glorious!

I am not sure a 1 loss, ACC Champ NC get in over OSU or Stanford. The committee really penalized teams that played FCS teams. If they reward NC for ducking D1 opponents in out of conference games that subsequent play in an otherwise weak power 5 conference, they will open the floods gates to discouraging strong OCC match ups.

My thought exactly. I expect us to be #6. If UNC jumps from #14 to #7 or #8, we're screwed.

A good indicator of this is the fact the committee currently has them behind no fewer than 8 one loss teams and 3 two loss teams.

I'd be willing to take rcash bets that they don't get the big jump people are afraid of

Totally agree. UNC will have handed the undefeated #1 team their first loss and will be a conference champion.

Stanford--will the committee jump a 2-loss conference champion over a 1-loss Ohio State that didn't even win its division?
No way. They barely beat #6 Notre Dame at home on a last second FG, while we killed #10 Michigan on the road. The only way Stanford will jump us is if they do the USC what we did to Wiscy last year.

I'm guessing the rankings will be (2/3 4/5 and 6/7 might flip)
  1. Clemson
  2. Alabama
  3. Oklahoma
  4. Iowa
  5. Sparty

The only ones I'd flip in your rankings is 7 and 8. UNC is currently #14 and they had to pull away late against a mediocre NC State team. Stanford did beat the #6 team. I just don't se UNC moving up seven spots and Stanford only one.

Unless Florida beats Alabama, we're properly fucked for the playoffs.

UNC will jump no fewer than five teams (#6 ND, #7 Baylor, #10 Michigan, #11 Okie State, and #12 Florida, all of whom lost yesterday and have multiples losses). UNC may or may not also jump #13 FSU, who manhandled #12 Florida, but since FSU does have those two losses and won't be in the ACCCG, it's pretty much a moot point.

I'll message Mac this week on how to beat Bama. He doesnt have Zeke Elliott so he has to near shut them out. Put Hargraves on their best WR no matter where he goes all game. And man up everyone else. Coker can't beat them without a tremendous help from Henry. I'd then put the other 9 guys within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage and unleash hell on Henry. IF you get beat over the top, so be it but you can't let Henry run over you all game.

Only way they score is special teams or a defensive touchdown so they might as well go balls out.

If UNC is in the 7 or 8 spot, it will be a clear indication that the committee is sething it up.to make things easier if UNC upsets Clemson.

If UNC is 10th or less, I would expect the Buckeyes to be in the playoffs with a Clemson or Bama loss.

If Clemson and Bama win next weekend though the Buckeyes are all but a lock for the Rose Bowl vs Stanford.

After reviewing a lot of posts here, I've revised my guess as to what the top-10 will look like:

  1. Clemson (12-0)
  2. Alabama (11-1)
  3. Oklahoma (11-1)
  4. Iowa (12-0)
  5. Michigan State (11-1)
  6. Ohio State (11-1)
  7. FSU (10-2)
  8. UNC (11-1)
  9. Stanford (9-2)
  10. Notre Dame (10-2)
I would not be too surprised if they swap FSU and UNC, but since FSU was already a spot ahead of UNC and had a more impressive win against a much better opponent, I think FSU gets the nod.

Lmao at the idea of the playoffs being: Iowa, UNC, Bama, Oklahoma.

The committee has got to be disgusted about the possibility of having to take UNC and/or Iowa. Talk about losing out on moneyour and viewership. At that point they better hope for an oklahoma/bama showdown.
