At an airport recently, a woman was giving a loud speech by the sinks about how there were so many germs on the faucets that she couldn't bear to use them, and would have to disassemble her luggage to find her antibacterial wipes. She was telling everyone who walked by that she couldn't believe they were using those dirty things.

They were touchless faucets.

Now, that? That's some kind of OCD. Or just someone being a bitch on purpose.

very funny, deety.

it always gets me how someone will wash his hands after using the restroom and then touch the handle or doorknob when exiting the restroom. all efforts are then nullified. i bet the handles and doorknobs are just as bad as the toilet seats.

i'm like a surgeon when i'm in the restroom. absolutely nothing above the forearms touches anything but myself, toilet paper, and paper towels. it's all forearms, elbows, hips, legs, and feet. flushing? only the soles of my shoes... and that includes the urinal, too. it may look odd and unsanitary to kick the urinal flusher, but i couldn't care less.

It's important to build up some immunity by exposure. But, during cold and flu season your best defense is to wash your hands frequently. Especially before eating.
everyday life provides enough exposure. not taking some sensible and easy precautions in the restroom is foolish. washing hands is always a good idea, but most don't wash their hands nearly long and well enough.

CHICAGO ? The gender gap has widened when it comes to hygiene, according to the latest stakeout by the "hand washing police.''
One-third of men didn't bother to wash after using the bathroom, compared with 12 percent of women, said the researchers who spy on people in public restrooms. They reported their latest findings Monday at a meeting of infectious disease scientists.
Two years ago, the last time the survey was done, only one-quarter of men didn't wash, compared with 10 percent of women.
"Guys need to step up to the sink," said Brian Sansoni, spokesman for the Soap and Detergent Association, which co-sponsors the survey and related education campaigns.
