If BP had a Ventrilo server, meaning, a way for people to voice chat over the site (this would not be something run on our web server, so would have no impact in that way, although you would be able to see from the site who was connected and chatting) -- would anyone use it?
Is this something people would be interested in? You would have to have a microphone, and would need to download a free piece of software. There would be different rooms for people to chat/conference/h0tcyb0rz in. We've had IRC and java-based text chat here before, but if we're going to type to one another, there are PMs and the forums themselves. This could be as much a 'fun' tool, as a genuine and free means to collaborate on projects.
Not trying to sell it here or otherwise convince anyone. Just offering it. Could be an interesting addition to BP, and it's not something other football/basketball fan forums have done, as I'm aware. We've ventured into video, maybe it's time for audio as well.
For those unfamiliar, this is conferencing, not person-to-person VoIP stuff. If 100 people are in a room, 100 people can be talking.
