Vince Young (unemployed)

Does Vince's family have $100K+ to drop on a multi-million dollar insurance policy? Leinart's did, that had to weigh heavily into his decision. Personally I have no idea what he'll do.

About Mack Brown, if he has a brain in his skull he'll stay put and get a stadium named after him when he retires in 15-20 years. He'd have to be crazy to leave what he's got in Austin right now. The money, community support and success aren't just given to the first guy who walks in the door.

On the OL they lose 3 starters maybe four if blaylock goes pro(that would be a huge loss), but they return several backups that rotate the entire game with them. This should not be a huge drop in talent. The most notable difference will be how they play together as our line this year has been together for the better part of 3 years.

We lose Huff and Ced Griffen in the secondary but once again will be able to replace them with players that have seen significant playing time in nickle and dime packages this year and have played well.

We lose Aaron Harris in the Middle. That is a huge lose but we will be able to move Rashad Bobino to MLB wich is his natural spot and we have a very deep LB corp that is soon to add the #1 LB recruit in the Nation in Sergio Kendle

on the line we lose Rod Wright but get to replace him with Frank Okam who at least in my opinion has been better for us this year. We also lose Larry Dibbols who we would replace with Roy miller. The truth is though you will not find many hornfans who worry about our play on the Dline. Texas has become a factory for Dlineman.

When I first read this, I thought it reminded me a lot about how our team was this year. Still have some major cogs from last year, but of the starters that left from the year before, they were replaced with guys who had a lot of playing time before (Richardson/Patterson replacing Fraser, Everett replacing Fox, Pittman replacing Ross, ect.).

Then I got to thinking... wait a minute... you guys are gonna be losing some AWFUL big cogs from this years team, and risk losing a couple others on top of that! Lemme get this straight. You guys lose 3 starters from arguably the best OL in the nation, Huff, C.Griffin, A.Harris, Wright, Dibbles, S.Young, PLUS you risk possibly losing V.Young AND Blaylock (which would be the 4th loss on your OL)... and you guys aren't losing much?? That seems like a lot to me. And you guys are losing a whole lot more firepower than we did last year.

...while leinart's choice to stay has likely paid dividends, he has taken a great risk as well...

I think Leinart's staying for his senior year has actually dropped him down in the draft order. Last year he could do no wrong and was the clear-cut #1 or #2 pick, while this year he has been somewhat "exposed" for being nothing more than a "good" QB when under pressure. Hell, he may not even be the first QB taken this year if he has a couple more shakey first halves of games.

Vince Young has done all he can to show what kind of talent he is. Staying for his senior year (5th year?) does little or nothing to improve his standing. He is a cinch top-5 pick right now, and if he stays for his senior year he risks seeing his stock fall significantly if Texas ends up having a relatively mediocre year because of all the talent they lose next year.

I hate to see him stay.. only because I don't want to face him next year.. but I think he does himself a LOT of good by coming back... He is still a very raw talent... and could use the additional year polishing... I think one more year and he is a cinch top 5...

I think he could still be in the top half of the first round this year... but not top 5... yes, one of the top 5 players in college ball... but not top 5 professional prospects... IMO

Buck Twenty, i know that it looks like a lot but in most of those cases there are people that ready to step in that are already major contributors to this team. It would not come as a huge shock to me if we took a step back next year but i wouldn't be shocked if we didn't either. I am not going to count Blaylock and Vince as gone till i see them hire an agent. Mack's proven that he can get seniors to stay. Selvin is nothing more than depth at this point and that is at one of our deepest positions. Huff, Harris, and Scott are going to be hard to replace, but the remainder of your list will be replaced by either 1)players that already contribute or 2) people that are considered to have more physical talent than the senior leaving.

And if Texas falls to a 2-loss or 3-loss team next year, you'll hear cries of how Young was the beneficiary of that great 2005 OL and isn't what what he was cracked up to be. When opportunity sends its big guy to come pound on your door, you had best answer it.

Young has some serious questions regarding his release and throwing style. If I'm him, I'm grabbing the first train out when my stock is highest. Even more so if Texas wins the National Championship this season.
