Verizon & Android news

Looking to get an Android phone and I was looking at both the HTC Incredible and the Samsung Facinate. I have a few friends who have the HTC phone and they seem to like it. I was just curious to see if anyone has any experience with the the Samsung Facinate. I'd be upgrading from an LG Dare so anything will seem like a HUGE upgrade to me. I looked at the Droid X too, but the phone just seems to be almost too big.
The fascinate is awesome. Wife has had it a week; the screen is remarkable. The problem is the car dock defaults to Bing and VZ Navigator; but apparently that is being fixed with 2.2 and there is an App that can be downloaded to fix it too. But that may not matter if you don't use the car dock.

How's the battery life on it? I've heard one of the few complaints about the Incredible is the battery life.

I guess it depends on your usage. That screen takes some power and my wife and kids have found a love for games all of a sudden. But it's as good as my iPhone 4

I know a couple of people with the Incredible and they love it. Battery life seems to be pretty good. Ive got an EVO which is basically an incredible with a bigger screen and my battery life is pretty rough, I get through a full day with a good amount of usuage, but thats the max... But that said, its definitely worth it

Since the update, the idle battery life is perfect (when I leave it unplugged overnight on wifi, it only loses 1-2% of the battery), but mild to regular use still zaps that battery in 2.5-6 hours.

Meet The PlayStation Phone

Looks like the folks at Engadget got their hands on photos of something interesting: A PlayStation Phone. We've heard about this mysterious device in the past, but this is the first look at a prototype model.
The phone apparently has a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 chip, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and support for microSD cards. It's speculated that it will run Android 3.0 and offer a custom Sony Marketplace. There aren't many other details, but you can check out more photos of the prototype unit over at Engadget. [Engadget
Android getting a playstation phone would be huge. Even better would be a changeable keypad (swap out a keyboard for a gamepad).

For those of you with the Incredible, did you guys end up getting the extended battery? I've heard it takes the life from 2-6 hours to 8-12. Of use, obviously, not idle.

I'm trying to decide between the Incredible and Droid Pro. I like the idea of having the vertical keyboard, I'm a Crackberry guy. But I've also heard nothing but good about the Incredible, and it'll be about $150 cheaper if the rumors are true.

Thoughts/opinions are welcome, especially those of you that have had several devices.

EDIT: On the PSPhone, I love it. Unfortunately Verizon probably won't get it. Ugh.

I went with two extra similar batteries for $5-10 shipped on ebay.

I miss my pearl keyboard, but my next Android phone will be a touch pro 2 clone (horizontal keyboard). There are rumors that one may be coming later this month. I like the idea of a vertical slideout keyboard, but the keys are just too small for me to use comfortably (whereas the pearl had big, double-lettered keys).

The Droid 2 is being cleared out to make way for the Droid 2 World Phone.

Bluffton, the merge is the touch pro 2 clone I was talking about (though I won't own one for awhile).

Ah, thats the phone I want. Thanks.

Looks like an updated, more thought out Droid 2. My buddy's wife bought a droid 2 this weekend, nice but HUGE. It was like holding a brick. Plus, obviously, not world enabled.

After reading about all this, I'll be waiting till the 11th, then see what it looks like. I've also heard good things about the Fascinate, although the Samsung UI hasn't received rave reviews. Plus who knows what the Holiday specials will be.

You're correct, its a $35 fee. However, my guy at the local Verizon store said it would be waived if I talked to them before hand about trying it out; one of the benefits of dealing with the store as opposed to the site.

Just an FYI for others, Best Buy has a 14 day no questions asked return policy, no fee. According to the manager at Best Buy Mobile :)
