Verizon & Android news

Motorola DROID flahes us with Adobe 10.1 (Phone Arena News)
Last week. we showed you some video of the Nexus One loaded with Adobe Flash. Well, not to be out done, there now is video of the Motorola DROID all loaded up with Adobe's 10.1 version of its software. The Adobe placeholder has pointed out Flash was going to be added to the handset, so this is no surprise. If you notice a slight difference in the functionality between the DROID and the Nexus One, it could be due to the latter running Android 2.1 and the former powered by Android 2.0.1. But don't fret, DROID owners (yes, you CAN be fretless) because by the time that the Flash is added to your handset sometime in the first half of this year, your device will probably be also powered by Android 2.1.

Being able to view Flash animation will allow you to get a more in-depth look at the news, such as with the New York Times and BBC sites. Having the Adobe software will also allow the DROID user to access certain video game web pages as well as visit certain web sites that play current television shows. The bottom line is that adding Flash will make browsing on the DROID a much closer experience to browsing on your PC at home.

Verizon Touch Pro 2: The Hits Keep Coming! | WMExperts - solid review. It looks like the phone for you, wade.

One big problem I have with the TP2 is the sheer size...it's one of the big drawbacks to the phone I currently have.

I've gotten a couple of PMs from Blackberry users and I'm still torn...the guy who works at the Verizon retailer I go to is someone I trust so I may have him break the tie for me...because after watching the phonescoop.com reviews on YouTube of both phone, it seems like either one would work for me.

Appreciate all the info jwins.... :wink2:

My official Droid review... after having it for 6-8 weeks.. 0-10 scale...

As a phone... 3-4
Phone-using a Bluetooth connection... 9+
Internet speed... 8

As a toy/fun... 9+

I pretty much agree 100% here... the phone application is meh, the rest of the device though pretty much kicks ass.

Time to end the suspense...

After careful consideration and in no small part because of the option to completely ignore jwins and his wealth of techno-knowledge, I decided on the Storm2.

So far, I am beyond pleased...from a productivity standpoint this phone blows my old phone out of the water. Frankly the decision came down to just that...productivity. I don't use a lot of apps...and thus I didn't really see the need for the Droid Eris. The big drawback to the Touch Pro2 was 1.) the size and 2.) my Verizon didn't have any in stock when I was there. After talking to the guy I trust at Verizon corporate, he sold me on the idea of switching to a Blackberry. From there the decision came down to the Curve2 and the Storm2. I am much more comfortable with touch screen and once I got my head around the idea of the virtual keyboard by testing it out, I was sold. It was worth the price of the phone alone simply based on how quickly I was able to start receiving work/rugby emails. Some of the other features I have already used include:

Easy sync of with Outlook of all my tasks, contacts and my calendar
Customizing ringtones using full MP3s and M4As
Ignoring people via three mediums now (email, text and now Blackberry Messenger)
Some people complain about Blackberry's browser, but it is still a big step up from the IE mobile I had on my Samsung
Stalking recruits using Blackberry's Facebook application

Remember when I would bump the voice command button?
... And the blackberry would always think the ambient noise was saying call wade?
... Especially at 2 am?
... And I eventually deleted you from my phone altogether?

Maybe some things in life should go on forever.

Verizon is Changing Its Pricing Multiple sites have reported an upcoming change in Verizon's pricing occurring on Monday. Changes are summarized below:

1) All multimedia phones will incur a mandatory additional $9.99 fee for 25MB of data. Phones include enV3, Chocolate Touch, and a host of others (the list includes 9 phones, so check it out).

2) Smartphones will still require the $29.99 data plan.

3) Pricing for unlimited minutes is dropping 30%.

These changes will only affect NEW customers, so if you're thinking of buying one of those multimedia phones (without an unlimited plan), you might want to do it before Monday.

Still extremely overpriced, and now they're forcing a new charge for a bogus data plan on phones that don't even need it. If they're going to force these data plans on everyone then get rid of the $20 unlimited texting ass-raping charge. I have this stupid nickel and dime bullshit that VZW and ATT force upon everyone.

Analyst Predicts Verizon iPhone Announcement Next Week | Gadget Lab | Wired.com

What if in addition to a tablet, Apple made another huge announcement at next week’s press event, like a Verizon iPhone? That’s what an analyst is predicting.

“We believe there is a good chance that the ‘One more thing…’ part of next week’s presentation may include two iPhone-related announcements: namely, the release of iPhone OS 4.0 and the unveiling of iPhone 4G coming to Verizon in June,” writes Canaccord Adams’ Peter Misek in a note to clients Wednesday.

Misek said he and his semi-conductor partners believe the Asian supply chain is prepping for mass production of a CDMA Verizon iPhone in March with plans to begin selling the device in June. He added that an “iPhone 4GS” on the next-generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) network will likely arrive next year.

This could be interesting, I like the Android OS, but I would love to see the people who want an iphone have the ability to get it on Verizon. Any device, any network, free peoples phones.
