Verizon & Android news

Twice in my life I had made the jump from Verizon to ATT, twice I have had to come back, both times I was fucked on coverage, not high speed coverage, phone coverage. Where I live now, anyone with ATT can't get shit, verizon, 5 bars, full high speed. At my old place, same thing, oh yeah, I live about 5 miles from Irvine California where ATT's major office is :(

So, while 7.2 Megs to my phone sounds sexy as hell, until they get those black spots on their map resolved, I won't even consider switching, the extra costs suck, but not getting calls, that's a risk I can't professionally take.
Yes, on that I agree. In our area Verizon's signal blankets twice the area ATT does. Commuters from Lancaster to Columbus frequently lose their signal on the drive up Rt 33 w/ ATT, and I know my wife and I do not get cell service where we camp (RV) in the summer.

The consequence of faster tower speeds is shorter range. Like I said, I've been assured by my engineers with ATT that that problem is being addressed.

And developments like this are why I am waiting:

- Works as Wireless Access Point (for free? Either way, nice feature)
- Wider keyboard, more separated keys.

I'm probably going to get a Droid this week. I've had the Krave for almost a year, the warranty is just about up, and I need to get it exchanged for a Droid pretty soon. I haven't been able to talk to anyone without being on speaker or on a bluetooth for the past couple of months, and I was too busy/lazy to get rid of this piece of shit. Hopefully my laziness pays off, and I can get a Droid for a reasonable price.

Droid for $129 - wirefly

a heads up though:
If you buy from Wirefly and want to cancel the contract/change plan/change features early before 180 days due to unsatisfaction, you have to pay them(Wirefly) $200-300 along with Verizon ETF!

The screen protectors are pretty nice, but 12 bucks for 3 is fucking highway robbery.
He said he didn't use one.

Michigan fans have been assured by Bill Martin that Rich Rodriguez will soon have the Wolverines challenging for a national championship, too. So you'll forgive me if I seem dubious about this one.

That's why I asked for something that compares the two with the morsels we have so far... this just sounds like another one-sided story.

if ATT would stop trying to improve the speed of their network and maybe focus some money into expanding it they would completely dominate Verizon with them having the iphone, the blackberry bold (def one of the better blackberrys.) They have a huge markethold, they have "the phone" that everyone is comfortable with, but instead of taking that momentum and the money they are making and installing more towers and repeaters, they instead focus on law suits and expensive ad campaigns. This leaves Verizon with the opportunity to open up their network, bring in a competing device and actually stand a chance, something ATT could have prevented years ago.

So, while people tell me things are going to "be better with ATT" I have lived in my general area for 10+ years, and started ATT, couldn't get coverage at my old house and had to move to Spring, a year later, I moved to Verizon, we moved to this house, I tried ATT again, and still no coverage. So that's a 10 year window, when are things going to be better exactly? The funny thing is I am ATT UVerse area, so they are trying to get me to bundle, the guy was out here, I told him I didn't have coverage via my cell phone, like a dumbass, he pulled out his phone to make a call to ask about it, and I had to inform him he needed to walk about 30 feet to get some coverage.

I find it interesting that they can get fiber ran to my house for 20+ megs of bandwidth, yet I am unable to make a cell phone call from the same location, maybe someone should have tested that?

Yes, but you usually have to have the destination company set up, or tell your current soon to be old carrier to leave it open for the transition.

Are you in contract?
