Verizon & Android news

I bought the Droid last weekend... DO NOT BUY IT... it's a productivity killer... I'm not sure I know how to use the phone part yet... but I'm like a kid in the candy store playing with the apps... WAY TOO MUCH FUN... I can sit on the bar stool and play like a teenager...

The barcode thingy is really cool... same with Sky Map

Probably same toys as iPhone... but I'm having a blast

Anyone have the HTC Imagio or Touch Pro2 with Verizon? For some reason I love smartphones that are Windows based which is why I bought the Samsung I have now...I use a lot of Windows applications on my phone like Outlook, Excel and IE.

I used to use the Moto Q and loved it -- until I got a BlackBerry. Now that VZW has replaced the bug-laden Curve (at no extra cost) with my current Tour, I'm a really happy camper. I don't miss Windows Mobile at all. Syncing is no problem, nor is reading Word, pdf, or Excel files that people send me (in fact it's easier because of the superior zoom and pan features on the BBerry).

VZW first offered up the Imagio to replace the buggy Curve, but I balked when I saw how kludgy the thing is. I strongly suggest you investigate the Tour. I don't think you'll miss Windows Mobile at all.

I've decided I'm going to get an iPhone...now comes the waiting game. I really don't want to leave Verizon since they have the far superior coverage etc, but if they aren't getting it soon (within the next year) I'm going to AT&T. Hopefully some set details are released soon.

I need a quick piece of advice. Tuesday I have to buy a new phone. My phone literally just ate itself. I got a loaner phone from the Verizon store because the tech was out and they were closing. I have until Tuesday to buy a new phone now.

Do I buy the Droid, or BB Storm2?

What do you want your phone to do? BB is a work/email/browser powerhouse that works phenomenally, that can also do media applications. The Android is an entertainment device with a revolutionary OS, tons of APPS and can also do email and other work applications.

It all depends on what you prefer or need. As well as your company (if applicable) requirements. Have you played with each of them yet?

To be honest, I haven't looked much into the new Storm.. Mainly because I'm not a Blackberry guy. But from what I've read on the Droid, it's the best phone you can get that's not named iPhone. The downfalls I've heard sound like every thing can be fixed with updates. The camera from what I hear, absolutely sucks right now. Go start reading reviews, it goes a long way. I'm more convinced now, that I'm going to absolutely love the phone than I was a few weeks ago when the phone first dropped.

I'd not get the Storm2 personally, because its virtual keyboard is the worst I have ever tried. Couldn't answer an email with that thing to save my soul.

Agreed and I'm a huge BB fan. The Storm sucks. My wife just got the Droid and it appears to be a better device than the iPhone IMO. Of course, I had an iPhone and couldnt stand it. If you want something to play games on rather than communicate buy a PSP, DS, ETC.

Quite a few users are ranking the Droid over the iPhone though. I personally have the Tour and it is a perfect fit for me. I use it for work and probably fire off about 200 emails just from this device per day.

With all the 'free' bells, whistles and apps on the Droid and iPhone... I see the BBs days as numbered... not saying anything about BB quality... but

What can the BB do that the Droid & iPhone cannot?
What can the Droid & iPhone do that the BB cannot?

I tried to use this logic for my daughter... but she still wanted the BB...
I bought it for her the same day I bought myself the Droid...

One negative to the Droid... is battery life... since you're on the web and doing so much multi-media... it can eat up the battery... I am very surprised how little I use the phone, per se vs the web & apps

You're missing the point IMO. It's not a matter of what BB can do that those others cannot; it's about how well they can all do what you most need your smartphone to do.

My first priority is making phone calls, so iPhone on its inferior ATT network comes in last.

My next phone may be a Droid or another BB; can't say yet. But for now I'm highly pleased with my BB Tour.
