VA DE Josh Sweat (Florida State Verbal)

Had not watched his film until now because I hate to get my hopes up. Now that he has visited, on his own dime and with family I decided to. Best HS film from a DE prospect I have seen since Clowney. The idea of a defensive class made up of Sweat, Cornell, Jones, Hilliard, Baker, and Conner is crazy group of guys for your front 7. Wow.

I'm with you...the word "freak" gets thrown around too much but Sweat is it. If you throw that potential class in with the front 7 in the last two classes, the depth chart is amazing, although I realized I do think we need at least one true DT this year. In any event, I think this class will be stacked but Sweat could well be the crown jewel if he picks the good guys, although I anticipate a dog fight to get him:

DE: T. Lewis, Holmes, Slade, Sweat
DE: Bosa, Thompson, D. Jones, Cornell
DT: Hill, Sprinkle, Cornell (I think he'll slide down often)
DT: Munger, Gallimore(?)
OLB: T. Johnson, Booker, Baker
OLB: D. Lee, Berger, Hilliard
MLB: McMillan, Conner

I believe that tOSU will have the best D-Line in the country next year, and if we can stay on his list long enough until that becomes history, tOSU will be more appealing.

Furthermore, tOSU has an opportunity to destroy his number one team, VT (per crystal ball). When that becomes history, tOSU will be more appealing.

I don't think one game always trumps the relationships made with coaching staff and administration. It'd be nice to destroy Va Tech, for the sake of our season more than just landing Sweat. This kid is so low key, that no one knows what may win him over. I think him being comfortable with our coaches, admins, campus and current players mean more to him than schools current record, social media and making friends with commits.
