USC vs. OSU: A fun Idea for a Prediction Thread

tOSU wins because: Receivers start running routes with double moves, which they've not been showing on film this year; Boeckman uses a pump-fake and the USC corners are burnt for an easy score. Beanie plays well because the only issue is pain and he's able to ignore it. The defense is able to stop the outside running game, and Heacock repeatedly fires numerous Silver Bullets at Sanchez which result in a couple of bad picks.

tOSU loses because: I'm an idiot and none of the above things happen.

USC wins because: They're at home, Carroll knows what he's doing, and their O-Line plays better than their combined experience would indicate. Sanchez avoids bad mistakes and hits a couple of big plays. Their defense stuffs tOSU's running game, pressures the QB, and there's not enough time for tOSU to hit any deep routes.

USC loses because: I'm an idiot and none of the above things happen.

Prediction: tOSU 23, USC 20.

Interesting take. I haven't seen Boeckman rock the pump fake that often in the past but if he gets some adequate protection in the pocket and gets his receivers to do some double moves he may be in business. One thing though is that the USC DBs aren't really cover corners so they don't have the tendencey to just get totally burnt on certain plays because they are playing it to close. If anything SC's DBs have almost always played a bit off the receiver and allowed shorter plays but not major bombs which has its benefits and its drawbacks. Regardless, I think your offensive strategy has some merit, especially if Boeckman could bomb one of those early in the first. That would be a mega shocker.

Preface: I seldom post; and I've drank 4 double jack and cokes tonight, so take my predictions FWIW

tOSU is tha WINNAR: The D plays lights out. They hit Sanchez every time he drops back, and force errant throws. Our Offense, while inept without the services of Beanie, is able to take advantage of short fields that are set up by the D.

tOSU loses: USC breaks long, early touchdowns. This demoralizes the tOSU D, and tOSU tries to force things through the air to catch up.

USC is tha WINNAR: Their offense is able to move the ball at will against the tOSU D, which forces tOSU into catch-up mode. See the tOSU loses post above. I?m drunk, so I can?t think any other plausible outcomes.

USC loses: The USC o-line is not used to the kind of pressure that Lawrence Wilson and Cam Heyward will bring. In addition, Jenkins and D-Wash will blanket the wideouts. Sanchez becomes desperate, and turns the ball over. AKA, what is stated above. Fuck you Thirsty Scholar; with your strong mixes drinks and club footed hoes.

In conclusion:
tOSU 19
USC 16
1 OT

Thanks a lot for your kind words.

Buckeyeplanet is truly an excellent college football forum, probably the best on the web in my opinion. It's a shame I didn't discover this place prior to a few months ago because there is a wealth of informed, learned opinions on football here and I've really enjoyed the time I've spent on this board. You Buckeyes were very hospitable to me and left me with a great respect for OSU and its fan base.
Ill certainly continue reading as the season wears on and I'll be sure to follow what I hope will be a nice season for the Buckeyes.

That's pretty dire! I'm a USC fan so I would be happy to see that type of score on Saturday but I just do not believe that Jim Tressell will have his players so poorly prepared for such a big game. Tress has to be sick and tired of hearing about the last two big game collapses and he's probably been looking torwards this matchup for months. I would be shocked if he didnt have his boys ready.

Thanks alot for your kind words as well. I wouldn't mind at all if you stopped in from time to time with updates on what appears to be a run to the NC. Good luck Trojans the rest of the way.
