No matter if Fred Davis, or Rocky Hinds, or Chauncey Washington, or anyone for that matter wants to transfer, I do think it is shit that USC can tell them to not stay in conference or else go to UNLV. If Petey wants to join NFL pastures for millions, no one can stop him. He can lie to these kids to get them there and then do what he pleases afterwards. Sure, Southern Cal is a great draw, the damn place nearly sells itself. I've never been there, but trust me, it's on my list to visit. If I was a stud recruit, I'd take a free vacation there too.
The best part about this whole situation is what it is going to do to USC's future recruiting. You can only get the best player at every position every year for so long until you start getting feedback from guys that have done it before. Now, we are right in the middle of their dynasty, and so far everything has been rosy. Right around the time that they lose a game or two, and don't look so invincible, these OH and NJ and FL kids aren't going to just jump at the chance to play there. Honestly, I don't think PC will be there much longer. He already lost Chow and Orgeron, and hasn't quite yet lost Leinart or Bush. But the time will come. These '06 and '07 studs might just yet see a reason to avoid USC, and it's eventually going to catch up with them. Just like it does at every other big-time program. OSU fell off the map for a couple years, scUM lost 4 games a few years in a row, NEB is almost terrible these days, and Oklahoma wasn't that good not too long ago.
Slap the thigh and ride the wave, fellas. The USC dynasty will not go on forever, and don't forget, a new season starts less than a month from now. It's anyone's Rose Bowl.
