USC Transfers (Merged)

I can't help but wonder why so many want to transfer from USC. Could it have anything to do with empty promises from Pete?See, sometimes Kirby Sweeper sales tactics bite you in the ass.
Eric Wright is transferring because he would otherwise be kicked out of school for drug posession. Chauncey Washington considered transferring because he was academically ineligible. I don't think promises of playing time is at issue for either of them.

Rocky Hinds is a QB. QB transfers are common all over the country because of the nature of the position. So only one kid is transferring over playing time issues (and he's a QB). Hardly an epidemic.

The further we've gone in this topic, the more it seems like perception vs reality. Sneaky Pete might be a wily bugger, but it looks like we'll have to wait till later to tell his mother what he's done.

Methomps, what game concerns you most as a trojan fan?

Well, when you put it like that it doesn't sound like an epidemic.

I would expect more QB transfer from SC in the near future, you guys have got... what 8?

@ Oregon. First Pac10 game (see Stanford 2004, Cal 2003) in one of the most hostile environments in the country. Oregon can pass with Clemens or run with Whitehead, and we haven't seen them in 2 years.

Moody's mood lifted by decision

Tailback says leaving Trojans is 'the right thing to do' and addresses rumors that he could be headed to Oklahoma State.

By Gary Klein
August 18, 2007

For the first time in weeks, Emmanuel Moody appeared completely at ease.

He walked away from Heritage Hall on Friday afternoon with no bags of ice strapped to his bruised knee and, perhaps more telling, sporting a grin.

Moody, a sophomore tailback who was USC's second-leading rusher last season, said he was at peace with his decision to transfer to another school in search of a featured role.

Los Angeles Times: All Things Trojan : Adam Rose on USC sports

Tailback Emmanuel Moody's decision to transfer was probably the best thing for him, regardless of any SI cover jinx. After sustaining another injury in camp, he was facing an uphill battle in a field of 10 tailbacks all competing for a limited number of carries. Now, he'll have a year to recover and a great shot at being a feature back for another program. The key thing for him may be the chance to get healthy -- but do all players have to miss a year when they transfer?

The answer is yes for anybody who has been recruited for and played top level football, basketball, or men's ice hockey. Players who were not recruited and never got a scholarship can play immediately. Other sports will allow first time transfers to start right away. A USC football player like Moody could also drop down a division if he wanted to compete this year, but don't put any money on that happening. Whatever he does, he'll need to enroll by the 12th day of classes at his new institution or he'll miss two years. For a 34 page PDF guide to "basic information you need to know about transferring to an NCAA college," you can click here.

As for the Trojan's two heralded transfers from Arkansas, QB Mitch Mustain is taking reps in scrimmage while WR Damian Williams will sit out practice this year with an injury. Both become eligible in 2008.

Scout - Moody Joins the Gators
Moody said Florida just felt like the right place.
“When I got off the plane I just got that feeling,” Moody said. “I just kind of knew that it was the place for me. It was one of those situations when people say you just know, kind of like when you meet your wife. When you meet your wife you just know she’s the one.”
He also praised Meyer's 'honest' nature as a factor in his decision.

DailyNews - USC won't let Holland transfer to Florida
USC will not grant a release to former wide receiver Jamere Holland if he wants to transfer to Florida, according to sources.
Holland, who left the team and was dismissed by USC coach Pete Carroll last week, listed Florida as one of five schools on his release form. But USC will not grant the release because Holland's former coach at Taft High of Woodland Hills, Troy Starr, works at Florida as director of football operations.
Their close relationship apparently disturbs some within USC's athletic department who believe Starr and Holland probably communicated before Holland transferred.

Meyer mistakenly acknowledges USC tailback's transfer to Florida

Tuesday, August 28, 2007 8:28 AM

Florida coach Urban Meyer accidentally confirmed yesterday that former USC running back Emmanuel Moody is transferring to the defending national champions. "He's not here yet," Meyer said during his weekly news conference.
Meyer quickly realized his error and said, "He's not here." Then he paused and said, "Oops."
