Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

The people acting like Urban Meyer is the only man on earth that could possibly be successful at Ohio State because of John Cooper PTSD are being equally as idiotic as the people that want him gone.

Well, the odds of finding the next John Cooper are much higher than the odds of finding the next Urban Meyer.

Signed,

Someone who entered frosh year at tOSU fall ‘88 and still has nervous twitches associated with the mention of Cooper and Big Bear... and I still cannot relax in a hot tub.

Hyperbole much? Assuming beating Michigan is not sufficient success,

Notre Dame won a title in '88 and are on their fourth successor
Alabama won a title in '92 and then went through five before hiring Saban.
USC won a title in '04 with Carroll and is on their fourth successor
Nebraska won half a title in '97 with Osborne and is on their sixth successor
Miami won a title in '01 with Coker and is on their fifth successor
Michigan won half a title in '97 and is on their third successor
Florida won a title in '08 and is on their fifth successor (two interims counted)
Texas won a title in '05 and are on their second successor
Tennessee won a title in '98 and are on their sixth successor

What hyperbole? I'm not the one suggesting Ohio State's going to fall into the abyss after he retires.

Urban wasn't the first great coach and he won't be the last, regardless of how much some of you seem to want that to be true.

You think game threads suck now?

They might get worse. Ryan Day or whoever they hire might also never lose a game. No one knows.

Point is that talking like Urban Meyer's continued employment is the only thing keeping Ohio State football from being the national shitshow at the fuck factory is some cult shit.

Perhaps you should re-read your post. I believe that any coaching hire is a roll of the dice and there are far more examples of serial poor hires at prominent programs than serial successes. Who here stated that Urban Meyer is the only man on earth that could possibly be successful at Ohio State?

You have successfully defeated an argument that no one was making and answered your own question as to "what hyperbole?" in the same post.

Congratulations.

This is your alternative scenario to considering that the program has a lot more downside risk than upside if UFM left? Cult shit indeed.

That's an argument people make every time they bring up Earle Bruce, John Cooper, and other blue bloods ending up in the wilderness.

There's a possibility that Ohio State ends up with another 9-3 Earle or guy that can't beat Michigan, not an inevitability.

the amount of coaches on your end of that spectrum is in the single digits. The amount on his side are over a thousand.
