Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

He came in under difficult circumstances with the team in disarray. Changed the team's culture in what I found to be an incredibly short time and had an incredible first year given the circumstances. He is one of the best college coaches I have ever seen.

I am grateful Buckeye nation was able to have him as the team's coach for the seven years he was here. He wasn't perfect (who is?) but he has left a legacy that will be difficult to surpass. Thank you coach

Urban came in with such a history of success we knew he would right the ship .,but that first year was magical I don’t think anyone expected 12 and 0. Now we are in a better starting point but Day doesn’t have a HC record we can count on. I am cautiously optimistic but it’s difficult following a legend.

I fully expect Meyer to coach again, at a place where his connection to the place is less intense and fan expectations are lower. And I'll be okay with that.

Glad he's getting a chance to relax and get well.
Maybe I'm naïve, but I don't see it. I think he always viewed tOSU as the pinnacle, and he got here and was wildly successful. With his love for the school and the state of Ohio, I think he stays in C-bus with tOSU in a behind the scenes role and maybe eventually takes over for Smith as AD.

He's in his mid-50s, has accomplished everything as a coach and has health issues. I just don't see him taking another coaching job and jumping back into that pressure cooker.

Yeah hard to see it. But then again, that dude has an intense desire to compete and compete with intensity. So yeah, it could happen. But I couldn’t care less, he gave us more than anyone could have asked for.

I think you're right. Shelley has said, even before this tumultuous season and the health issues, that tOSU was their last stop. What else could he possibly have to prove?

Thank you, Coach Meyer, for giving us your all and your very best for the last seven years. I'll miss seeing you on the sidelines. :urban2: :oh:

I was incredibly happy when he was announced as our head coach, I knew we would be a step better than what we were with Tressel, and while at times it was frustrating, the truth is coach Meyer did a hell of a job, being the highest moment in his tenure the 2014 CFP Championship, and of course no L's to TTUN. Outside the white lines he helped shape up the culture that I hope coach Day can uphold, and even though I haven't been around Buckeye football for a long time, to me this is the greatest era of Buckeye football hands down.

On a personal note, during UFM's tenure I learned what it means to love the Buckeyes, through thick and thin.
For that and for everything else.
Thank you Urban Meyer.

I don't think Urban can stay away from the game for too long. He will either get his fix by staying close to the program or he will end up doing some broadcasting or involved with a company tied to college or pro football. But unless he finds a non coaching gig he loves that pays decent money I expect him coaching somewhere in the 2022 season.

He's made a ton of money but when you don't have an income coming in like you're used too after a few years it can make it pretty tempting when someone puts a big pile of cash in front of you to turn it down. That's why I think the only way he stays out of coaching is he gets a nice salary doing some flexible job he enjoys.

I think he's at the point that he's living off wealth. What do you think he has put away? 50M. Let's say 40. Treat that like a university endowment and disburse 4% every year. That's an annual income of 1.6M taxed as capital gains and not touching the principal. In Columbus, I don't think he would need to tone down his lifestyle one bit.
