Shhhhh, don't let anyone know I said this, but that was the strength of Michigan's uniforms and helmets until they let Addidas screw around with an instantly recognized design. It was also a strength of Ohio State from 1968 on until Nike decided they needed faux "salute" unis.I don't not like them. But until I saw the Arizona State, I didn't know who the hell it was. Isn't that the opposite of what brand recognition is supposed to be about?
Isn't a part of the uniform's role to connect to the tradition of the school? Like maybe the school's colors? You like copper and black? Fine, change the school colors to copper and black. Otherwise you're saying, "we have no history, no tradition."
Actually, I thought the uniforms that they wore back in 1996 were pretty iconic. Ever since then, they've been on a slow downward spiral, IMO.The copper in the uniform is an homage to Arizona's state history and the PT-42 on the helmet is a salute to the late Pat Tillman. So it's not like a random uniform was slapped together. It's Arizona State, of course they don't have much awesome tradition, and any tradition they do have definitely doesn't revolve around the uniforms.
Not bad, IMO.
If we didn't already know from our dealings with Nike.. if you give a mouse a cookie..
