I disagree with everything stated in this post.bukIpower;1073647; said:Thats what i'm saying I knew Herron would be a tough guy to play against as a scout teamer.... To me I know I could get killed for this but here it goes.. Saine doesn't seem like a good fit as a running back to me for some reason? When he ran the ball it seemed like he was running up our offensive lines backs all game long, and wasn't following blocks to explode through the holes. His speed is such a weapon and I don't think he used it like he could've, but as a freshman he'll improve that. You can tell when a position comes naturally to a player for sure. For example the past few great running backs here are naturals when it came to the position. MoC,Pittman, and now Chris Wells are naturals at toting the rock. When they get the ball everything to them is simple and they KNOW they will find the right hole and they know where to take the ball. Then there are the ones who don't look as natural at the position like Lydell Ross, Maurice Hall, MoW, and B.Saine. Thats not to say they won't work on some things and get better at running the ball or anything, but rather for whatever reason it doesn't seem like they know what to do when they have the ball. A natural to me has qualities that can't be practiced and can't be improved through exercise. Like Vision, when to cut, when to juke, and when to know to just get the yards you can.
I think B.Saine will be a BIG part of our offense but he's shown he's most effective right now as a reciever. He had success in the beginning of the year against Washington, but to me he struggles to find that crease. I like Boom's vision in his HS video and the things that can't be taught. He's definatly got the build, and skill set to be a very big contributor for the bucks. Once Beanie/MoW leave I think Boom will be the main man with Saine spelling him. I do believe Saine will be on the field just as much as Herron, but in a different capacity.

And like you say, thats doesn't mean don't give him carries, or get him the ball in space (how about playing the Ginn roll in the ShotGinn formation) or line him up in the slot, motion him out wide, etc,etc....
Use his talent, obviously, use his speed to create mismatches... but I agree that he may never be a every down, load carrying, back.
