UF OL Ronnie "Taz" Wilson (official thread)

The glasses must be pretty rosey scooter...JT has had his fair share of problems with players involved in off-the-field incidents. At one point, I was concerned about the direction of the program, but the fact is 18-21 yeard old boys will be 18-21 year old boys, no matter what guiding influences they have in their lives.

I split of BlockOFanatic's (creepy) crap and all the posts relating to it...

Maybe I'm giving Taz some serious leeway here. But from everything we've read about him, his own posts on this board and his parents' comments, I'm not sure what to make of this whole situation.

Before Wednesday, would anyone who has had contact with Ronnie in the past have thought we'd read this story about him? I can assure you, it would have never crossed my mind.

Until I read for sure that Taz is involved in something crazy or has a side to him that he never exposed to anyone before, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and will hold out hope that this whole story is a crazy mix up.

Agree 100%.. i do remember when things with JT weren;t grand.. you know before troy & team took on his personality.. im sure there will still be bumps in the road, its sort of a big university with a ton of diversity. and honestly scooter, not a knock on JT, but he didn't have the best track record at YSU either.

That is certainly fair...

It is understandable, like wadc said. but don't convey that by saying if he were coached by JT it wouldn't happen.

I'm also convinced, that if here and under Tressel, Ronnie would not have found himself in this predicament.

That was my opinion, and my opinion only that this would not have happened if he had come here. If you're trying to tell me I'm not allowed to express my opinion, on this or any other subject, we're going to have an issue.

Why? It hasn't prevented all other young adults from making bad decisions here. How would have JT changed things vs Urban Meyer?

Different environment up here. If you've ever been on campus at UF, you'd understand. I'm not saying there's no way he'd get in trouble here. I'm saying being 1400 miles from his home, away from any elements that may have influenced him before, could have made a difference.

Like I said. It has nothing to do with Meyer. It has to do with the environment difference and the attitude and approach to life that Tressel teaches here.

I don't see how you can say it has nothing to do with Meyer and then call it a Tressel thing.

I think he is trying to say it is not because Meyer did anything wrong, but Tressel could have somehow prevented this from happening.

But it still has something to do with Meyer b/c, as the argument goes, Meyer isn't doing what Tressel would do.

Beyond that, it's just a naive statement. Every program has incidents, including tOSU under Tressel.

To me, that is why I disagree. Because I don't think that Meyer did anything wrong, nor do I think Tressel has a way of preventing all of his players from making mistakes on or off the field.

Funny how any of us can claim that we know Taz. We don't. So, frankly it wouldn't surprise me if these charges are bogus. And it wouldn't surprise me if they were 100% accurate.

Last I checked, an internet message board is no window into somebody's soul.

It's also quite interesting how we are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt just because he was close to being a Buckeye. yeah, I'm suuuure all of you would give the benefit of a doubt when you hear somebody getting arrested on the local news after an incident like this.
