UF OL Ronnie "Taz" Wilson (official thread)

All of us are sad to miss out on Taz.

But assuming that Ohio State was his first choice, here may be a good example of why you verbal early and don't wait to pull the trigger.

I certainly wish him the best, but I'm glad he won't be playing for Spurrier.

Well, I had Taz on my short list of players I really wanted us to get. I hope he has a great career wherever he goes. My question is if Taz is walking on at Florida ? Even if the old staff had offered, the new staff is not obligated to honor any verbals. There's no way the new staff has offered him because there is no new staff. The only thing that makes sense is he is walking on.
Just wondering how this works.

So you think the new staff is going to reissue offers to everyone that was offered by the previous regime? They don't have time for that. You can bet that they'll review all the verbals and let them know if they are still welcome, but other than that everything else should stay pretty much the same.

Dantonio did, but it's very seldomly done. Dantonio just wanted to start things over, and make sure all the players in his class were his own. It's a different world if you're a midmajor type school, because most of the recruits are diamonds in the rough type players and it's a judgement call to get the right players. At majors they go mostly after the big name guys and only have a few obscure recruits. I'm pretty sure the new staff will honor all of the verbals.

Sorry to see this day, that's for sure. Florida got a good one. Good luck to Taz and the whole Taz family, and I hope you can stop in every now and then to tell us how it's going. Chris Leak always seemed like a good kid from his ESPN diary, and with the right system in Gainesville, he could be lugging home some hardware from NYC. I'm sure you'll do everything you can to keep his uni clean. :)

Damn!:(

We could've had the best OL class in the land by far. When will our staff learn that without the best OL/DL classes we won't become the "power team" we traditionally have been. Hopefully things work out for Taz but I wish it would've happened here.
