UCLA Basketball Scandal

Here are Howland's comments on the allegations:

‎#UCLA HC Ben Howland on upcoming SI expose: "Specifically, I can't talk about any former player or student relative to anything having to do with that. We have a comprehensive drug policy here at UCLA where any time someone fails a drug test, I'm alerted, school's alerted and player is alerted, and I think we have a good program in place for all teams to receive education and counseling and receive discipline."

Dohrmann probably started sniffing around Westwood after that dude on Bleacher Report spotted Jim Tressel (or a Jim Tressel look-alike) on campus.

I hear he was rigging the raffles for all the best handicapped parking spots.

I'm not going to link the article or even click on it because of the hack that wrote it, but here's the teaser on SI.com's front page:

Discipline problems and mistakes in judgment have sabotaged UCLA's past few seasons under coach Ben Howland.

After three straight Final Four trips, Ben Howland's Bruins unexpectedly struggled. Ex-players and staff tell a cautionary tale of the storied program's decline, writes George Dohrmann.

He's apparently not even alleging anything except that they suck, and that they're sucking for the reasons that most bad teams suck. Whoopty-damn-doo.

So some former UCLA players were partying too much and fighting in practice, and now they're all kicked off the team or transferred out, and they're not winning as much now, and Ben Howland is kind of socially awkward?

Cool special report, bro.

I got to page 2... and realized how little I cared about this. I thought to myself, "There's 4 more pages of this nonsense? Tell me WHY I should care." Whoever wrote this article just kind of sucks at convincing me to care about how some team that had wild success has endured a few bad years because of some bad eggs." I didn't even know it was written by Dohrmann.

Howland is uptight and likes things room temperature, the 54 year old coach doesn't get along with most 18 year olds, he's recruited some bad basketball players, and famous players in Los Angeles end up partying like they live in Los Angeles. I mean... there is nothing substantial written in that article.
