Game Thread UAB Blazers at tOSU - Sep 22, Noon ET, BTN

Our D needs a little bit of this back

Keep to your assignments, play clean, play well. It feels like we're going for flash and big hits and interceptions. I would much rather force a 3 and out or a punt 90% of the time, than come up with 1 more interception per 50 plays. Then again, I'm not coaching (for a reason).

I still don't understand how UAB receivers are as wide open as they are... Then I look and see where the DB's are lined up prior to the ball being snapped and see them sitting 8 1/2 yards off the line of scrimmage.

Are we THAT afraid of getting burned?

Not only that, if they tighten up they are constantly trailing by 3-4 yards too.

I don't know if it's the players or the scheme at this point.

My God, they couldn't get him down with 12 men?

A very unimpressive win by Ohio State. They will enter their first conference game not yet having found the combinations that they need for an effective offense. Miller is an exciting quarterback, who still needs a lot of work to reach his potential. Hall is looking like he will be a steady contributor, with some outstanding moments coming. Smith is also showing increasing confidence on those short goal line offense opportunities.

The defense is looking quite battered and a bit thin entering the B1G. Tackling is horrible. A very good quarterback can exploit a lot in the secondary.

All in all, I think this team will lose at least three games, including The Game, unless they really make some rapid improvements.

Ad nausea all game and in the defensive discussion thread...
