U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

Just over a half-hour in, and this one has "0-0 draw" written all over it. There's a distinct lack of skill in the attack for the US. Not enough vision or creativity to threaten the center of the defense, and not enough pace or skill to threaten on the wings. Individuals are spending too much time on the ball, so the tempo is too slow. They are dominating possession though, so we're not learning much about the players on the back line.

I've known about Gatt, but I had never watched him play. He must be right-footed, because he's playing on the left wing and he being completely wasteful, dribbling the ball straight into the heart of the defense on his preferred foot. It's completely negating his pace.

I think the American commentators would be alright with maybe Friedel (and that's a huge maybe).

Ty Keough to Balboa to Harkes to Twellman, maybe it's ESPiN or something. Or maybe they dumb it down too damn much.

Andy Gray or someone back in that day would never circle a spot on the field.

Anyways, maybe 3-5 players that played will actually play a part in qualifying, IMO.

Taylor Twellman saw this starting eleven and said he thought it would be a 3-0 or 4-0 game.

This is why nobody likes American soccer commentators.
That and every one of them sounds like that annoying spike-haired white boy that we all played soccer with.

Looking at you Christian Miles, Rob Stone, Eric Wynalda.

I doubt we see Friedel go into commentary full-time. He has been working on his coaching badges the last couple years. I think that's what he wants to do when he retires from playing. He seems like he has settled his family in London and wouldn't want to travel more than his responsibilities in England already demand.

Personally would have liked to see Gatt over EJ and Feilhaber over Davis. Thought Beckerman's performance in the friendly was really good, but don't know that I like him above Williams, Edu or Jones and there isn't really a spot for him otherwise.
