U.S. Men's National Soccer (Official Thread)

They need to get over MLS. Stop making young guys play there and stop thinking you can compete internationally with a bunch of MLS scrubs.

Our best player grew up in Germany and plays in the Bundesliga (heading to Chelsea now). Too bad he's hurt half the time.
Our good players on our best team (McBride, Friedel, Keller, etc.) did Europe too

They're trying to use MLS to market the USMNT and vice versa, but in doing so they're not preparing players to compete at the international level.

MLS is basically the equivalent of League One in England. Put together a team with guys from Luton Town and Accrington Stanley then compete internationally. Good luck.

And so did Dempsey and obviously the previously mentioned Jermaine Jones, I only bring him up because he had a lot of edge to him, shit Donovan wasn't the toughest dude but he got that taste of Budesliga early, and there's a reason the corpse of damarcus Beasley keeps coming up, because he knows how the fuck to play.

Gold cup is.gonna be a mess. Hopefully the emergence of Sargent, Weah, and Pulisic can at least change the skill level up front. Then go find guys that will fight to go with them.

Sargent isn’t even on the Gold Cup roster they were saying Saturday.

I loved Jermaine Jones, BTW

The bottom line to me is that the 02 team was as mentally tough as any team we’ve had as a country since probably Lake Placid. They’ve now bottomed out as mental midgets, so I wouldnt be surprised at a 1-1-1 group record.

Something you'd think is painfully obvious to Berhalter.
