This federation’s fear of cutting bait with marginal older players that have no future is so frustrating. On the other hand, they need that stability/older bite like you said or they end up with these shit results. I have no answers anymore and just get angrier thinking about all the problems with this greedy broken system. Damn it all.

Short of reincarnating Herb Brooks and making him a soccer coach, this system is fucked. They either have people who pick the wrong players (everyone but Klinsman) or people who pick the right players and try and use them wrong (Klinsman). Then they cream themselves when a guy looks like he might be a player initially (Altidore) and basically don’t develop anyone else at the position. Then they either have to keep going back to the same guys until they qualify for AARP, or they have to throw dudes with no experience into a pressure cooker.
Pick a fucking system and develop guys into it. Like Herb said, don’t always look for the best players, look for the right ones.
