2025 TX CB Dorian Brew (Oregon Verbal)

I understand that Devin S is helping 'get' Dorian back in the Buckeye sights. However, that does imply that he wasn't/isn't? Maybe those Texas lasses with their skirts and boots, not to mention their straw stetsons, and syrupy accent hasn't turned his head a tad. Hard telling. Certainly a 1/10th royalty from an oil well or two as NIL could have an effect as well. Forwhatever the reason, I too, am casting my hat in the ring for Dorian to don the S&G when the time comes. AND, will wager that it won't be over until pen hits paper in December. Go Bucks!
Guys rated as high as Brew, Sanchez, etc aren't easily swayed by coeds, because let's be honest. There will be girls chasing after them at every school they visit, heck, I'm sure there are moms that are chasing him right now(and when he was in OH). What had Brew trending away at one time was OSU having commitments from 3 CBs, and other schools like Texas promising to play him at WR and making him think that OSU had no clear path for how they would use him.

Brew is just a kid who you bring in and figure it out over the next few years, He's extremely talented, but how his body grows(or doesn't) will factor in. He's in a similar position to Sonny Styles, Cade Stover and Sam Hubbard. All 3 could play at OSU at 2-3 different positions, and 2 are now in the NFL at a different position that they were recruited to OSU to play

Gotta believe the DB coaches are telling Brew that he can play any of the DB positions he wants. As you noted, depending on how his body develops, he may be more suited to S, but has the hips/talent to play corner. WR is new info, you're the first have heard that would be an option. Hey, Tejas has almost a deep a WR room as tOSU, so could be a recruiting promise (which isn't really a promise at all). Your point is well taken on Cade and Sam in the league at positions different than played at tOSU, and expect to see more of that in the future. Some of the lighter DEs seem to wind up at LBs, and some DEs eat their way into DTs. Expect to see the same from Sonny. A 'clear path' in recruiting can take various twists and turns once he puts on good weight, but regardless, he'll get good coaching at tOSU whatever path he follows. Here's hoping.....go Bucks!

That's a 10/4, kid could wind up in a lot of positions or roles. But it's a "we'll find out later and not worry about it for now" scenario. And he's a true Ohio kid, I would take him over Woodby in a heartbeat...not saying that was the scenario, but also why I am not really worried about that departure.

Well heck. I just tore off the June calendar, so it says July.....where's all the bananas? Great news. Football is one sport that allows great DBs to make it easier on the DL, giving them more time to beat their blockers to get to the QB. Conversely, a great DL makes the QB hurry, causing less-than-good throws to go the DB's way. And of course, the LBs add their rushing, laying-in-the-grass games to filling gaps or otherwise causing mayhem to play out. Believe that tOSU has the D to make all this happen. Go Bucks!

Per 11w poster:

After spending the entire spring with Dorian Brew #1 on their CB board, Texas can't even get an OV scheduled with him.

Texas is desperately trying to get Brew to visit after he cancelled last week. Per Gerry Hamilton, "it's not looking good."

CB65 and CB71 are the only other CBs left on Texas's board.
The zone scheme that UT runs is not to liking of many of the top end CBs, hence why Terrance Brooks left for Illinois. Top CBs want to be on an island and shut down a WR, and then mix in some zone concepts.

And we TV quarterbacks were second guessing Knowles hiring.....don't watch the pro game enough to know this level of detail, but for an intelligent recruit, could make a big difference. Going to a pro-style D certainly gives one a leg up when drafted. And certainly didn't know that Brew has cancelled/not scheduled an OV to Texas. Does anyone know when his OV to tOSU happens? Sounds like might be early July? Go Bucks!

Scheme aside, Texas was fighting an extremely uphill battle here even with his move down to TX. No reason to go visit when he knows he won't be committing there...

Ohio State is expected to receive Brew’s last official visit the weekend of June 21st, and then it will be decision mode for the four-star prospect and his family.

“I think the last week of June or the first week of July,” Brew said when asked when he planned to make a decision.
