Alex Gleitman has covered The Ohio State Buckeyes since 2007 and is a recruiting insider, while also contributing to team coverage, at Lettermen Row and On3.
Wasn't it good old Yogi that said, "it ain't over till it's over"? This is really uncharted territory, as verbals aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Guess that kids can commit one day, decommit the next, or when they show up at the Range Rover showroom for 'their' car, are told it would be December before 'his' car comes in.
Not saying Brew is going to flip to us, but I knew this was coming in terms of how strong of a verbal this really is. I don't see the verbal sticking tbh.
Is Brew truly that much better than what tOSU has committed already? I dunno. Is it worth having a bigger NIL package than what the commitments already have, or is Buckeye staff 'planning' on losing some kids to the portal later on because of $ or depth reasons. Or am I over-thinking the strategic issues? The 'mythical' recruiting championship isn't worth anything other than a high listing in next year's Athalon/Lindy's yearbook/annual. An Ohio kid, certainly, even though parents left the state. Anyway, it makes for interesting fodder for the talking heads. Go Bucks!
