I don't necessarily mind some of them. The one thing that bothers me is the tweet implying that Louisville has never had a WR drafted in the 1st round of the NFL draft. I get that it's a dog eat dog world and you gotta do what it takes to get recruits, but I don't like the idea of negative recruiting.

Back on topic though... I really hope we get this kid. I think he can be really good. I'll stay cautiously optimistic.

That's not really negative recruiting.

My gut tells me Quick makes a decision at some point.

REALLY don't like Twitter at all.

Then you are not using it correctly. Coaches tweets did not bother me. These guys have been interacting with fans since they joined the staff. If a Louisville fan is hurt then they can hit the unfollow button. Why would a Louisville fan follow the OSU WR and QB coaches anyway.

It's not the fans so much as it potentially offending Quick (didn't his father play there?). If I'm a recruit and coaches at a school I'm seriously considering bash another school I'm seriously considering, that would definitely lower my opinion of the first school.

You're not allowed to talk about kids who haven't signed their LOIs. Doing it like this is weak.

I understand exactly how it works - so if hating twitter is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Back in 1992, before Netscape really made the web, the number of folks using the internet was considerably smaller. And at that time I told a colleague that 90% of the stuff on the internet was crap.

In 2002, with the explosion of the web, I told a colleague that 90% of the stuff on the web was crap.

In 2012, I told my sons that 90% of the stuff on Twitter was crap.

With apologies to Moore's Law, I am sure that buckiprof's "90% is crap" will continue to be true in 10 years. The trick is how to find, and use, the 10%.

I'm not a fan of the tweets. Feels desperate to me.
I think you mean

Twitter is okay as a pathway to other material. But recruiting via Twitter seems pretty lame and too close to a violation for my liking.
