DFBIA realizing Sam Webb is full of crap

Non-preferred …

December 9th, 2019 at 2:00 PM ^

Anyone else finding it a harder and harder to listen to Sam on these close recruiting battles?

I know his livelihood depends on it, but...geesh!

I've gotten to the point that if he doesn't offer up his "gut feel", I simply tune out the other narratives (I just don't put a lot of stock in his other "fluff")...

After “battling” head-to-head with Ohio State (and others) for C.J. Stroud and hosting him on an official visit this past weekend, Andrew Ellis is reporting Michigan has immediately moved on to this guy.

An unranked player with offers from Massachusetts, Fordham, Albany, Buffalo, Central Connecticut State, and Kent State.

The QB whisperer continues to crush it.

Michigan faithful taking the dual approach of 1. Convincing themselves that he’s good and looks like someone that “deserves to be ranked” (), or 2. convincing themselves he is being recruited as a tight end.

They currently don’t have a QB in the 2020 class following the medical retirement of this guy.

Well, they were not happy with the prospect of playing Bama in their bowl game; thought it'd be more enjoyable if they were matched up with someone they could easily beat. No surprise that they're also using this attitude in recruiting. They might actually stand a chance of winning a recruiting battle when they're going up against Umass, Fordham, Albany, Buffalo, and Central Connecticut State. (Seriously? Central Connecticut State? I didn't realize that Connecticut was big enough to even have a central portion! Are there also Western and Eastern Connecticut States?) Leaders and best though.

Uh oh, not only could this kid be a great starting QB, he’s even better because he’s a threat at multiple positions!

Blue Middle

That's a worst-case scenario. He's perfect for this class: could turn into a great QB, but seems like his floor is as a TE or even a wildcat QB. He's quick enough, strong enough, and fast enough to be a threat in D1 football at multiple positions. Love his confidence, contact courage, and athleticism.

But let's discount the possibility he can grow into a starting QB either. He's got tools and some kids just pop late.
It’s fascinating layers of delusion. Deep down they kinda get that it is extremely unlikely this kid is even a MAC level talent at QB so they also have to be delusional about his potential at other positions, because why recruit straight up elite players when you can recruit complete unknowns at different positions and transition them? But then also back to the original delusion about not discounting the sub-MAC level talent being a contributor at QB.

There’s also a lot of “does it really matter, we have a 5-star QB in 2021” takes in there.

Yes, a mere seven years in the QB whisperer will have landed his prodigal 5-star QB. And there’s absolutely nothing that can go wrong with that. Will Kareem Walker or Derrick Green still be around to hand the ball off to?
